Humility of the Little Flower

On the Occasion of St. Therese’s Feast Day, October 1st

Humility in love is you,
A Little Flower; for Him blooms
As in you His love we can view–
His light that penetrates our gloom.

Oh, what relief He brings to us
As we’re released from tyranny
Of self, when we in Jesus trust
And from our sin we are set free.

In Body, Blood to us He comes–
Our flowers watered with His life–
That we our new selves will become
And bring to world His heaven’s light.

Each one of us can take our place
On earth–becomes a garden fair–
To bloom as we’re wrapped in His grace,
No longer in the Devil’s snare.

Then when on earth our days are done,
We will join you with Him above;
Each flower has by Him been won:
We’ll cast to earth His risen love.
