Our Father’s Mother-Love

In her maternal face, our Father’s seen
Whose joy in Mary knows no human bounds–
His Second Eve whose image shows what’s been:
Our Father’s mother-love with human crown.

Foreshadowed in His spouse, Jerusalem,
She’ll hold all people to her mother’s breast
To suckle with her Son in Bethlehem
In mother’s lap where all of us can rest.

There human we become and full alive–
See garden gate found in Gethsemane,
No longer barred, for empty grave clothes lie
In tomb of Him passed through our agony.

He’ll raise to glory all from Eden’s nap
Through Father’s mother-love in Mary’s lap.
