THE LITANY OF OUR LADY
ETERNAL GIFT OF FAITHFUL MAID
We ponder Your eternal gift
Of Son within a stable laid
To all of us to heaven lift—
A gift through Mary, faithful maid.
We come to Him by her word, “Yes,”
Receive Your Spirit, to her gave,
As we our sins to you confess;
You bury them in Your Son’s grave.
And then on Easter we believe,
Yet not through sight of our own eyes,
But through the faith of one conceived
Your Son—in her crushed Satan’s lies.
On Pentecost in upper room,
In faithfulness with her we wait.
Her presence there dispels our gloom
And opens for us heaven’s gate.
Then with a mighty rush of wind
Your Spirit enters, forms Your own;
Through Mary’s heart to You we bend
As in her womb new seeds are sown.
We all become her children now;
She is the Mother of us all.
Forever to You we all bow;
We, through her Son, You Father call.
To heaven She’s assumed with You
And waits for us to join her there
Where each of us is born anew,
And Jesus in our hearts we bear.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us.
God the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us.
Our Father’s Plan
From nothing father creates heaven, earth,
Anticipates the birth
Of Mother and His Son
From womb where heaven, earth are joined as one,
Conceived by Spirit first in soul of her
Whose “yes” brings gold and frankincense and myrrh–
For King and Priest and Prophet who will die,
In borrowed tomb then lies
But only for three days,
And steps forth in a new creation raised
From womb of her created pure through death:
In Father’s plan, blown back on Spirit’s breath–
In time before to Anna’s longing womb,
In Eden’s eastern gloom
Where garden’s exiles wait
For Adam New to one Eden’s gate,
Unlatched by Son of her who’s Second Eve
From Father’s first creation, full reprieve–
When joined with heaven, old is made anew
Through Lady dressed in blue
Whose Son is Sharon’s Rose
In whom Creation’s purpose is disclosed,
As Providence completes our Father’s plan
To live in Triune Love since, through Son, earth began.
God the Son, Redeemer of the World, have mercy on us.
With Her Consent
From Old Creation comes the one
His revelation to receive:
A Woman’s “Yes” accepts God’s Son:
Eve’s daughter for us first believes.
Creation all groaned at the Fall
And longed for Eden’s promise made,
For one who would receive God’s call,
Consent to be the Lord’s handmaid.
With her consent the angels sing;
Comes earth alive with saving grace.
She wears His Spirit’s wedding ring.
New Mother of the human race.
Her Son will open door of tomb
And all creation breathes again.
Redemption comes from Mary’s womb–
Imprisoned no more by our sin.
At last, the serpent’s head is crushed
By Son with Mary’s nature raised,
Who gives to us His Mother’s trust.
Creation sings His lasting praise.
God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us.
Mary’s Faithfulness
O Spirit, you to Mary came that night
From Father’s heart on angels’ wings to breathe
God’s Son, made visible to human sight.
With her consent, You are allowed to leave
The One will bring our human race reprieve
From Adam’s sin, a Second Adam come
Through Second Eve, who for us all believed
And opened to You her pure Virgin’s womb
That through her gift our Father’s Son could enter tomb.
Come, look at us as Mary’s daughters, sons,
That her consent may now become our own,
And give us life through Mother’s life begun
Of Adam New, who in her womb was sown,
That when we die we will not be alone
But die with Him on Friday that’s called good,
As He for our sins on His Cross atones
To wash away in His shed crimson flood
Our death, which cannot hold the life in His new blood
May Father breathe in us His new life raised
That in us we may goodness taste and see
And join the angels with a song of praise,
As we all worship Him on bended knee
To sing in Spirit in angelic key
Of Him whose Mother gave to You her “yes,”
That born in all, He ever more will be
New life for us who will now Him confess:
The Spirit’s love through Mary gives Son’s faithfulness.
Holy Trinity, One God, have mercy on us.
A Mother’s Love in Triune Life
In Triune Life a Mother’s heart now beats,
Assumed to sit at feet of Father’s Son
And pray for us before their mercy seat
As she participates in Three-in-One.
Drawn in by Sprit’s call at Nazareth
Eternal is her “Yes” for all us speaks.
Our human nature raised by Spirit’s breath
In Son takes her with Him who His will seeks.
We all with Mother for theosis long:
Earth made again by Heaven, paradise,
For we know in our hearts we all belong
With her in glory of God’s Triune life.
In heart of God we find a Mother’s lap
Where she for us her Son’s grave clothes unwraps.
Holy Mary, pray for us.
Mary: Our Beginning and End
In Mary, see beginning and our end–
Conception pure and bodily assumed.
Salvation reaches back, where we first bloomed,
To Garden where in Adam, Eve begins
All human life–with Satan did contend
And promise made through Eve that we weren’t doomed,
But saving grace would come through that blessed womb
In Mary, whose own Son takes Eve with Him.
Yes, Mary has become our looking glass
To Alpha and Omega early see,
For Eve and Adam once again made pure
As Jesus’ nature through her reaches past
To draw into His end all who will be
With Him; through her, salvation now made sure.
Holy Mother of God, pray for us.
Mary and the Face of God
Your mother’s face, oh God, we see
Through Mary, your true love:
Time taken to eternity,
Made sinless from above.
The cross before her in our time
Is there in Anna’s womb–
Anticipates “not mine but thine,”
Her womb an empty tomb
From Anna’s womb is Mary born
Without a trace of sin,
The mother of your only Son
Through whom we’re born again.
You show your Son a mother’s care
In Mary’s open arms;
In her we see how she draws near
To us with mother’s charms.
At foot of Cross we’re children made;
We’re sisters, brothers now.
Our mother is the Spirit’s maid;
With her to Son we bow.
As your blessed Lady made for Him,
She’s your prevenient grace;
Your mother’s love is shown to them
Who with her seek Your face.
Assumed by You to Your Son’s side,
Our mother’s there with you;
When we in her Son here abide,
We’ve heaven in our view.
Through Mary’s mirror we see clear
Your mother’s image new;
She does for You hold all us dear:
Reflection true of You
Holy Virgin of Virgins, pray for us
Forever Virgin
Pray, Mary, Virgin in God’s house,
That we may our vocations fill,
As you are Holy Spirit” spouse
And in God’s plan ae Virgin still.
Forever Mother of God’s Son,
You as a Virgin your womb give
To Spirit to conceive each one
Who will in One Begotten live.
Your virgin’s hands and heart now bear
The life of each by Spirit sired,
For wedding garment you still wear
As Mother of each new-born child.
From Cross your Son to all us gave
A Virgin to our Mother be.
Each one unique by Spirit made;
Like you a once-made specialty.
Come, Virgin Mother, be our guide
As with your Mother’s hands you show
The gifts unique in each abide,
Configured there in shape you know.
May each of us then take that place
Made for each daughter, son alone,
In house with Mother full of grace–
Forever Virgin in God’s home.
Mother of Christ, pray for us.
Mary’s Face
We look into your face and find reflected there
The Christ you always see through faithful Cana eyes:
Your Son, His image bright in you reflects His care
For all of us who for a Mother’s love here cry.
Your arms once held the Christ who made us, died for all:
A cradle both at Calvary and Bethlehem
Now made for us who come through Cross to stable stall,
To you whose steady eyes drink suffering cup for Him.
When we look up from cradle to your loving face,
We see your Son, whose human nature is from you
United once forever with Begotten grace;
Through you mankind together always is made new.
Mother of Divine Grace, pray for us.
Mary Mediatrix
O Mary, mediate for me
The grace of your First-Born,
And once again a Mother be
For me who’s so forlorn–
Forlorn because of all I’ve done
To run away from you,
Afraid of light of God’s own Son;
In you His light shines through–
Shines through because there is no sin
In Heart Immaculate;
Let that same light in me begin
To save me from sin’s fate–
For sin is fated for that death
From which there’s no return.
Pray for the Holy Spirit’s breath
Within my heart to burn–
Through burning may I be our child
With heart that’s clean and pure,
Forsaking all of Satan’s wiles–
From Satan’s sickness cured.
O Mary, may that blue light shine
Through your transparent soul
With your Son’s Grace to heart of mine–
Make me forever whole.
Mother Most Pure, pray for us.
Mary’s Remnant
In Mary’s remnant now is magnified
The goodness of created human race:
New Eve sin free, since First had all disgraced,
By God’s own Son her womb is sanctified
When she’s conceived through Joachim’s, Anna’s act.
In love, His myth God makes to be a fact.
In Mary’s blood flows choice of Israel
With Noah’s Ark and Rainbow ‘cross earth’s sky–
Refined, now pure from Satan’s garden lie
And First Eve’s choice made human race all ill.
Now, one is washed, anticipates our end,
Made pure by Son through whom new world begins–
Untwisted what had been by Satan turned,
Made vicious in its soiled, contorted state,
Now straight with virtue to become God’s gate;
Christ comes to claim His own who Him had spurned.
Her human “yes” is music for God’s ears:
A song to dry all Eve-made human tears.
Mary Most Chaste, pray for us.
Mary from Our Sin Made Chaste
Before in arms she heaven held,
She heaven held within her heart
The night the Holy Spirit fell
On Anna’s house to love impart–
Impart the love the Father breathed
To bear His Son to Mary’s womb
As to Begotten she bequeathed
Our human nature free of doom–
No doom of disobedience grown,
For Mary fruit from His Cross tastes,
And soil in which His seed is sown
Is nature from our sin made chaste–
Her chastity from Him is drawn,
And we her nature take from Him
To wake in Resurrection dawn,
Free from eternal death and sin–
Our sin and death cannot Son hold–
Ascends to sit by Father’s side;
Assumed to be in heaven’s fold,
The Mother of the Church, His Bride–
His Bride is now His Body here–
To Church we ‘re joined through Mary’s “yes;”
With her we hear to have no fear,
For we with her in heaven rest.
Mother Inviolate, pray for us.
Mother Inviolate
Inviolate is the Mother of our clan
Who gives her nature to Him undefiled,
Cooperating with the Father’s plan
To give the world His One Begotten Child–
A Son conceived by Holy Spirit’s breath
And born among His poor, in manger laid;
With humble passion He consents to death:
Our sins are borne with Him to royal grave
Where Mother’s nature pure with Him there lies,
was raised on third day, lives with Trinity
In Son to intercede for us who cry
With voice of her, “The same be done to me.”
Queen Mother pure requests Her kingly Son
To make us pure in nature with her, one.
Mother Undefiled, pray for us.
Human Nature Glorified
Our human nature glorified
In Christ, Emmanuel:
In Mary’s womb Begotten hides
With her who never fell.
Now, Mary’s nature sanctified
In union with her Son;
By Spirit’s breath her past is tied
To Resurrected One.
Immaculate she is conceived
In mother Anna’s womb;
In perfect heart she then receives
God’s Son–will rise from tomb,
And when He disappears above,
He draws all to His side;
To His pure Mother gives His love.
His body there abides;
Some day we’ll all with Mary be;
We’ll stand by New Eve’s side.
For there through all eternity,
Our nature glorified.
Mother Most Loveable, pray for us.
Mary’s Mantle
Cast over me your mantle blue;
It’s your protection now I need.
Those other blankets proved untrue.
From their false hopes my faint heart bleeds.
Then over me a wispy veil
Falls gently on a Spirit’s breeze
And lifts me from my man-made jail
Of Satan’s vices I had seized.
Within the veil, a Mother’s arms
Enfold me on a loving lap.
At last my heart feels no alarm
As I surrender to my nap.
And when I wake, I feel released:
Within my heart, a Spirit free.
The war within has finally ceased,
And I’ve become full human me.
I thank you, Mary, for your “Yes”
That welcomes Abba’s only Son.
Through you the Spirit has all blessed
To make us children in the One.
Your lilies now are in full bloom
As each of us becomes your child.
Earth’s fields no longer cloaked in gloom–
All bask in Sonshine of your smile.
Mother Most Admirable, pray for us.
From Adam’s Rib
You came from Adam’s rib to give your womb
For Father’s Son, through Whom First Adam made–
Became His child to lift our nether gloom,
For sin in Adam’s line can never stay,
Destroyed by Him, surrendered to our way
And died on Golgotha between two thieves
To rise again, that human nature may
Become as meant to be with full reprieve,
As all are privileged to again believe.
With you who said, “To me let it be done,”
While glory fell on you who wear a crown
As Heaven’s Queen, who came from what begun
Through Him who by you dressed in swaddling gown.
The Son into your waiting arms came down
To nestle at your breast and there to nurse:
Of human nature drinks, for to us bound
His Godhead so that He can lift the curse
Brought to our race by Adam’s Rib was first.
Mother of Good Counsel, pray for us.
Mother of Good Counsel
Come, Holy Spirit, open up or ears
To words of Jesus, whispered through your sigh,
About His Mother, who with Him draws nigh
And opens us to wisdom’s joyful tears.
Born first through angel’s words, “You need not fear.”
In her response to You, forever ties
Her as Your spouse, while her Son’s grave clothes lie
Unfilled, as wisdom’s joy floods all our hearts.
On Resurrection Day, her wisdom raised
By You, who spoke, “Do what He says to do.”
As You through Mother teach Son’s wisdom new,
His truth arises now in us to praise.
Come, Holy Spirit, with her counsel give
To us His wisdom as through her we live.
Mother of Our Creator, pray for us.
Mother of Our Creator
The Son through whom creation’s born
Is born of Mother on our earth,
To leave us not in sin forlorn,
And give to us a second birth.
A woman like us is the one
Consents to bear the Christ before:
Gives birth to Father’s Only Son,
And all creation Him adores.
Creator’s Mother, she holds Him
Who held her in His Father’s hands;
With Spirit came to Bethlehem,
Reclaimed through Him all eastern lands.
Now Eden once again made whole
When open gate lets in the east;
Once more earth has a heaven’s soul,
And all can join in Great King’s feast.
Mother of Our Savior, pray for us.
Our Mother’s Living Sacrifice
As living sacrifice to You
Our Mother gave herself.
The law of gift is born anew
To show us human wealth–
A wealth in poverty is found
In those with spirits poor
Who know their sin and death is bound
This side of Eden’s door.
Another door is opened there
In Mary’s Virgin womb,
Where faith casts our our death-caused fear:
In Him it’s raised from tomb–
Through Savior’s empty tomb He fills
Our hearts with Mary’s love.
Her human nature He instills
In us now ris’n above.
Her nature joins His, from her giv’n,
The first of all us raised.
We’ll join them both in Eden’s heav’n:
Our Savior, Mother praised.
Virgin Most Prudent, pray for us.
Prudent Virgin
In Christ’s Church we meet prudent Virgin’s will
Surrendered there to Father for us all,
She gathers there all us who on Him call
From our own line of Eve and thus fulfill
What all of us must do–does not make nil
The feminine response of all since Fall
To God the Son, who rose from ‘neath the pall
And lives through us from her as Church all fills.
May Holy Spirit make us with her one
As feminine we all respond to Him
Who marks us with His image once again–
A Virgin’s mark allows all to Him come.
Uniquely then He lives in each of them
Who, male and female, saved from death and sin.
Virgin Most Venerable, pray for us.
Our Mother’s Dawn
As Mother of our new life’s dawn,
Come, roll our dark away;
Your “Yes” says to our fear, “Begone,”
For your Son brings the day–
Through you the Holy Spirit blows
And ignorance dispells;
His wisdom shines through you to show
He’s broken Satan’s spell–
For your Son’s “Yes” in Garden here
Was given back to you
In offer made for you to bear
Himself and all us, too–
Now you’re the Mother of all life
That through Him now is born,
As in your “Yes” shines His new light
From Resurrection Morn!
Virgin Most Powerful, pray for us.
The Father’s Gift
Blessed Virgin is the Father’s gift–
Receives for us His Spirit’s breath,
Conceives a Son who will us lift
From faithlessness and sentenced death.
In Jesus’ will she does precede
The Spirit’s gift at Pentecost.
He gives us Mother as He bleeds
For us the wine from Eden lost.
New Adam’s Blood by Spirit comes
To all who will with Mary wait.
His sisters, brothers we become–
Receive the Spirit with her faith.
With Son she crushes serpent’s head,
Creating human race anew
With Him who raises all from dead.
Our Blessed Virgin’s love has seen us through.
Virgin Most Merciful, pray for us.
Our Mother’s Tenderness
Oh Mother merciful, your tenderness
Calls forth from Him His truth, compassion wrapped,
That conscience may be wakened from its nap
To know our sin and to your Son confess
Our lack of virtue and our viciousness,
While He by His death opens Satan’s trap,
Releases us to mercy in your lap
And makes us kin through your blessed faithfulness.
Oh Mother Mary, pray we judgment hear,
That in His mercy, never more condemned,
We can go forth, know never more our sin–
For He has put to death what we once feared
And has our human nature there redeemed,
As we enjoy His Eden once again.
Virgin Most Faithful
Your Eyes of Loving Faith
So bless’ed are your eyes that did not see,
Yet see through faithful heart that has believed,
For you who held his Body from the Tree
Knew life that came to Him who was conceived
In your fresh womb by Holy Spirit’s breath
Would rise again and not be held by death.
Through faith in Him you came to understand,
See His new Risen Life with Spirit’s eyes.
You did not need by empty tomb to stand
To see with Magdalene where He did lie
And gaze upon His Body now is raised–
Makes empty here what was His once-filled grave.
At Pentecost, your Naz’reth faith confirmed
As Spirit fell on those who had not seen
But trusted ones who saw with hearts that burn
From Spirit’s breath, a gift to all: you gleaned
The truth you see through faith that in your womb
Was He conceived, now risen from His tomb.
Mirror of Justice, pray for us.
Mercy and Justice
Her womb an open gate to Paradise
From Eden’s East where sin and death had reigned,
And when we enter we at last can feast
With hearts are cleansed from Eden’s sinful stain.
Behind that gate His justice, mercy meet
When we repent our sins, accept His love,
And bathe in His forgiveness when we greet
His mercy bright from Heaven by His Dove.
Our Father’s justice served by saving death
On Cross by Son who took our sin on Him,
Is raised in mercy on His Spirit’s breath
Came forth from Mary’s womb in Bethlehem.
He beckons us with Lazarus voice, “Come forth”
From tomb; we come from Mary’s womb new-birthed.
Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
Seat of Wisdom
O Seat of Wisdom, may I be your guest
At Bethlehem to learn of your First-Born,
That gifts of thought and voice and act be blessed
By Him whose righteousness forever worn,
And yet for all of us like lamb is shorn–
Shares righteousness for all in Eve forlorn.
O Mary, may I ponder in my heart
Your wisdom when you gave to Him your “Yes,”
Permitted Spirit to you Son impart–
And will again to all Him now confess
As Lord and Savior, with Him to be dressed
In swaddling clothes and held close to your breast.
O Mary, may you give me here your heart,
Your will surrendered first in Anna’s womb,
Whereby your choice He first set you apart
To change forever Earth’s own Eve-wrought gloom–
For He who’s born of you is raised from tomb:
Your wisdom in us now is raised to bloom.
Cause of Our Joy, pray for us.
Mary’s Lullaby
In one unguarded moment, sound so faint
Strikes heart’s true ear–to Word of God once tuned–
As Mary’s lullaby for us God paints
With pictures in her song that make us swoon,
There, stretched across the sky of renewed minds,
We see a rainbow’s strings of Noah’s hues,
And Dove flies back and forth on heaven’s wind
To strum a melody both old and new.
The fragrance of that song from Eden wafts
O’er gate and angel–bars from paradise
All us in Adam born–so we can laugh
With joy as we are carried home in Christ.
May Mary’s song be our new lullaby
As joyful with her Son in manger lie.
Spiritual Vessel, pray for us.
Where Spirit Lives
Your Spirit enters heart where Mary lives,
Conceives in her your One Begotten Son.
Once given, your same Spirit ever gives
Your Son in union–never is undone.
Where Mary is, your Spirit always comes
With Son of yours to take His human rest,
As in our hearts her heart becomes His home:
Her loving heart our fallen hearts invests.
With her, to You we say, “Not mine but Thine;”
And through her, You work in us your goodwill
To make again a perfect humankind–
Through Second Eve your Spirit all us fills.
As Spirit brought your Son to Mary’s womb,
She lives in hearts with Christ raised from His tomb.
Vessel of Honor, pray for us.
Mary Is God’s Chalice
Blessed Mary, you’re a chalice by God formed
To stand at Cross and catch the Blood Christ spills
And bear it there for many yet unborn
Who from you His new life will drink their fill.
For His own life is human nature new
From you, joined in your womb with life Divine;
When from your cup we drink His heaven’s dew,
We also drink your blood from Eve’s new vine.
The first to drink from you is your son, John,
Whose Mother, through God’s Word, y0u now become;
And all who drink the Blood of Father’s Son
Are by you, as our Mother, welcomed home.
Forever your Son’s life for us you bear
As He gives you to us who are His heirs.
Singular Vessel of Devotion, pray for us.
Give Thanks to Mary
O Mary, we give thanks to thee,
A second to your Son;
As your assumed humanity
Stands next to Three-in-One.
Thank you for your graced human choice,
Received Emmanuel;
You spoke those words in human voice,
And heaven to earth fell.
Thank you for gentle Mother’s lap–
Held God in human love–
A lap in which was closed the gap
‘Tween earth and heav’n above.
To Garden faith-filled word does come,
Finds echo in your Son;
The “handmaid of the Lord” becomes
“Not mine but Thine be done.”
We thank you for your open arms
For John at Jesus’ feet;
You offer all a Mother’s charms
As round Christ’s throne we meet.
Mystical Rose, pray for us.
Our Mother, Mystic Rose
A Rose whose mystic center is made pure
In her conception and from Anna born,
And from her Rose’s center comes the cure
Of human race since Eve had been forlorn.
From that pure mystic center Jesus comes
With sinless nature given from her Rose,
And with her human nature now becomes
One who can wear with us our death’s grave clothes.
But mystic center from His Mother’s heart
Cannot by death be held without our sin,
And from that grave He rises to impart
His sinless human life–we live again!
Our Rose’s mystic center, gift from Him
Who lives forever, born in Bethlehem.
Tower of David, pray for us.
A Woman Grown from David’s Vine
His human nature through her shines
For those who have His eyes to see
A woman grown from David’s vine.
His perfect fruit makes her sin-free
There flows from Second Adam’s side
The Blood and Water of His birth.
Her blood and water there abide
As heaven now begets new earth.
A New Eve from New Adam comes–
On Cal’vry perfect nature gives–
So her conception pure is done
In Anna’s womb–His nature lives
At Nazareth He then receives
His perfect human nature free
From Mother who in Him believes,
And through her, Savior we all see.
Tower of Ivory, pray for us.
His Reflecting Pool
Her gaze upon us His reflecting pool
Of love from Sacred Heart in our hearts poured
Through Heart Immaculate, now heaven’s jewel.
His water slakes our thirst with heaven’s rule
By Abra’m’s daughter, first with spirit poor,
Her gaze upon us His reflecting pool
Where water breaks to breathe our hell’s fire cool,
Transform the beast within and calm his roar
Through Heart Immaculate, now heaven’s jewel.
To pierce our hearts become we Jesus’ yule
As we are born of her who God’s Son bore,
Her gaze upon us His reflecting pool
Makes sisters, brothers enter heaven’s school
Of life, learn to obey and to adore
Through Heart Immaculate, now heaven’s jewel.
Are wrapped we all in heaven’s swaddling wool
By Him, our Shepherd–Mother’s nature wore.
Her gaze upon us His reflecting pool
Through Heart Immaculate, now heaven’s jewel.
House of Gold, pray for us.
Mary Borne by Heaven’s Gold
Like Mary, we by glory are consumed
When into us we take your heaven’s food–
With Spirit over Adam’s chaos moves,
And bread and wine by Body, Blood assumed
To recreate your fallen world through Son
Of woman born, our Garden’s Second Eve
Who takes Him in, whom He will never leave,
As always in Her His work new begun.
Too great is He within herself to hold,
So He takes Her into Himself to bear
Her life as Virgin–Earth bore heaven’s gold–
To make His Church into His maiden fair
With Mary’s heart, the first to Him enfold,
Who now holds earth through Church in Mother’s care.
Ark of the Covenant, pray for us.
Mary, Ark of the Covenant
From Adam, Abraham, and Moses, David too
In body, soul she bears the promise of the Lord,
And speaks her “Yes” with faithfulness from them imbued,
As mercy comes from Trinity with mighty sword.
For in His covenant, His promised mercy first
We see in her before His promised justice comes
To quench what came with Adam’s fall, our longing thirst
To have second chance, His people here become,
For she in providence created as His Ark
To bear His holiness in human nature hers,
And she becomes the heart we find in Peter’s bark
To bleed across the earth and in us healing myrrh.
Gate of Heaven, pray for us.
Eden’s Gate
Through all my life I’ve looked for Eden’s gate,
A way to paradise where Life’s Tree blooms
And death from sin no longer human fate,
Where tomb becomes for all an open womb
As yearning of our hearts is satisfied
With life bestowed forever in God’s love:
Disorder into order sanctified.
Forgiveness comes with fruit from Spirit’s Dove.
My restless heart now led to human one
Whose free consent to be our Eden’s door
Is always open to her first-born Son
To welcome Him for us with spirit’s poor.
When we through Mary open to His knock,
The gate to paradise at last unlocked.
Mary, Morning Star, pray for us.
Mary, Morning Star
The Star of Bethlehem reflects her light,
Who goes before her Son in manger lies,
For “Yes” she speaks gives light to earth’s dark night,
And all who follow star by her made wise.
Her Morning Star first light that heralds dawn
Of Him descends from heaven to our earth,
And brings to us the One for whom we’ve longed,
For we know in His Bethlehem new birth.
The wisdom in her light shines on Him clear–
The more we gaze on Him more truth we see–
And we know she, with Him, holds all us dear,
As we become who we are meant to be.
Come, Mary, Morning Star, begin our day,
And shine on Him who is life, truth, and way.
Health of the Sick, pray for us.
Our Offering
With bread and wine, we offer you ourselves–
Our joys as well as all our sorrows, pain–
To be transformed, for in you all is gain,
As Mary’s heart becomes our human health.
At altar, Mary’s heart’s our healing balm
As human nature Yours from her You give
To us in whom New Eve again here lives;
Through children sings she once again her psalm.
New Adam through New Eve new hearts begets
From Body of her womb on Cross made dead.
Now Body, Blood to us Your children fed
At Table where at foot of Cross we met.
Our one oblation turns to Mary’s song–
Her joy that we’ve returned where we belong.
Refuge of Sinners, pray for us.
The Church Within Her Heart
Pray, Mary, that I be conceived
In Church’s womb within your soul,
That birthing waters I’ll receive
To heal my wounds and make me whole.
May water break upon my head
And shower me with heaven’s dew.
I’m baptized and at your breast fed
His Body, Blood that comes from you.
Please, Holy Mother, pray for me
And for the Church within your heart
That with your vision I will see
His Risen Body I am part.
May I with your mind ponder deep
The Truth of Jesus, your first-born,
So wisdom grows and my heart keeps
‘Til all the sin from me is shorn.
At end of my life, may I rise
To bow before Him, as you do,
That He may grant eternal prize
Of dwelling with Him and with you.
Comfort of the Afflicted, pray for me.
Mary and Nature
This life has so afflicted me
For nature is so cruel;
And yet we try to nature see
As mother of our rules.
We “mother nature” glibly say
And see ourselves her sons;
But fittest will survive her way–
The bone for toughest oe.
Yet, stirring in us way down deep
A thing not nature born;
And mother nature cannot keep
From our hearts there to yearn.
We yearn to find a mother who
Will hold us in her lap—
Will dry our tears and teach us, too–
With Father close the gap.
For God our Father came to her
In Holy Spirit’s breath.
Through her to us He came to care–
Save us from nature’s death.
Help of Christians, pray for us.
With Mary’s Heart
With your heart, Mary, my poor heart here breaks
As I with John and you at Cross await
That death of Him who shares our common fate–
Yet one which causes all the earth to quake
As Eden jarred from sinful sleep awake,
Kissed by its Prince who is now Church’s Mate:
Her Bridegroom who His Bride’s new life creates
And gives in her a place for each He makes.
With your heart, Mary, mine can now be born
Anew to live throughout Son’s water, blood,
As you the Mother of the Church become
By life He gives through His own side now torn,
That gushes forth a cleansing crimson flood–
Makes Eden pure and once again our home.
Queen of Angels, pray for us.
Mary, Queen of Angels
No sound is heard by natural ears
As Gabriel flies low;
Yet ears of faith o’er all the years
Of Gabriel they know.
Those ears of faith are turned to hear
His message to Handmaid,
And Mary’s faith dispels her fears,
As her consent she gave.
By her consent the humble raised;
Earth’s mighty are brought low,
The poor and angels sing her praise;
Through her God’s Spirit blows.
Creator comes to Nazareth
And finds a Mother there.
Through her He finds both birth and death;
His own Son will not spare.
His Mother shares with Him that Tree;
On Golgotha both stand.
That faith from Nazareth has she
As darkness covers land.
Then angels visit tomb rock-hewn
And roll away that stone.
He has defeated death’s dark moon;
New life through Mary sown.
And when on Pentecost is poured
The Spirit, Mary’s spouse,
Then like the angels we all soar:
Earth now in heaven’s house.
Queen of Patriarchs, pray for us.
She Bears the Seed of Abraham
She bears for God the seed of Abraham
Whose heart surrendered His own Body’s fruit–
One born again in David’s Bethlehem.
New Moses’ Law on Mount revealed by Him
Who plunges past the surface to the Root–
She bears for God the seed of Abraham.
He dies on hill outside Jerusalem,
And with Him dies His Mother at his foot–
One born again in David’s Bethlehem.
In Bethlehem, Jerusalem with them
Will all of us in His new Vine be shoots.
She bears for God the seed of Abraham.
Ascended, He rejoins God’s cherubim
Who celebrate with timbrel, lyre, and flute–
One born again in David’s Bethlehem.
From Upper Room is brightened world, once dim,
As Spirit sings, His lips no longer mute.
She bears for God the seed of Abraham–
One born again in David’s Bethlehem.
Queen of Prophets, pray for us
Mary and Moses
The Virgin had heard Moses and believed
With heart conceived by risen heart is pure.
She leads the way for all who now receive
Her Son as personal Lord, salvation sure.
We all are walking on Emmaus Road,
And reading, we do not yet understand,
For Moses veiled by our sin’s heavy load;
To lift the veil takes more than human hand.
Now Mary’s Son to each of us draws near;
With Mary’s wisdom raised, He lifts the veil,
And each of us with Mary clearly hears
How Moses and the prophets tell His tale.
When Jesus gives us Mary’s risen mind,
Raised with His nature, we’re no longer blind.
Queen of Apostles, pray for us.
Queen of Apostles
Hail Mary, of Apostles Queen,
The first to Resurrection know.
His empty tomb through John is seen;
Her faithful heart to Peter sown.
In Upper Room she waits with them
For Spirit’s breath brought to her womb
The Son ’twas born in Bethlehem,
Was later laid in rock-hewn tomb.
Her faith was born at Nazareth;
Apostles led in nine-day prayer–
To Father, makes her bold request:
His Spirit send to hearts laid bare–
And then in mighty rush of wind
He comes who’d come to her before;
Her heart by Him to all world sends
For she has opened wide the door.
In still, small voice to all He calls,
“Come, let me give you Mary ‘s heart,
Become apostles, saved from Fall;
My truth in her to each impart.”
Queen of Martyrs, pray for us.
Mary’s Choice
On wedding night, you chose a martyr’s bed
When you consented to be Spirit’s wife
And know the joy of living this life dead
To sin and Satan’s self-inflicted strife.
You chose the peace that bows to Providence,
Lets Potter’s hand shape your heart to His will
And knowing now that nothing comes by chance,
As new life born when our self-will is killed.
With God’s own Son you died on Calvary,
Through all your life before and after Cross,
And knew the grace that His good death gives free
To those who with Him worldly life have lost.
Oh Queen of Martyrs, please now pray for us
That we, His heirs, will choose in Him to trust.
Queen of Confessors, pray for us.
Of Confessors First
Queen Mary of confessors first
To give for Christ above
Removes from human race the curse
When Eve herself above Him loved.
Cast down was Satan; Eve, deceived,
Then ate the fruit was to them banned;
Both she and Adam then received
Our death–was part of greater plan.
A Virgin bridal gown received,
Surrendered to her Son her life
When Angel Gabriel she believed
And raised her gaze to heaven’s height.
Inspired she all repentants here–
Her children who have gone awry–
Who, through her, to her Son draw near
By Spirit’s breath and to self die.
As we are dying every day
With Him, sing praise to her who gave
Her life to Him who took our clay
From her and through her all us saves.
Queen of Virgins, pray for us.
Queen of Virgins
From womb she was the one who loved God first,
A beacon for those virgins since her time,
Is born the Queen of Virgins through her trust–
In Him who for us said from Cross, “I thirst,”
Whose blood to branches flows from living Vine;
From womb she was the one who loved God first–
Our Second Eve whose choice of First reversed,
Persuaded Him to water change to wine
Is born the queen of Virgins through her trust–
Held Him, the Son of God, at her breast, nursed
An icon raised above to heaven’s clime.
From womb she was the one who loved God first
Who takes away our sin and its death curse
That we be raised in Him to heaven’s rhyme;
Is born the Queen of Virgins through her trust–
The pattern for her sisters so diverse,
Yet one with her in harmony sublime.
From womb she was the one who loved God first:
Is born the Queen of Virgins through her trust.
Queen Conceived Without Original Sin, pray for us.
Mary’s Crown
First Eve’s free choice to eat gave back her crown,
And lost for all of us was earth’s first Queen;
So earth’s sharp thorns must shape crown wrapped around
The brow of One who enters Eden clean.
God’s angel sent to maid of Nazareth,
The child of Anna–Mary is her name–
To ask her womb to open for that Breath
With God’s dear Son, for fleshly nature came.
And Mary’s heart is free to make that choice
For her heart’s pure by choice of God’s own Son
To wear that crown of thorns with silent voice,
Bleeds back in time from Cross, her sin undone.
Now Mary of New Eden crowned as Queen
Of heaven–bows to Son who came to earth redeem.
Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
The First With Him Awake
His Mother, with her Son, the first to sleep
Through death with Him and then to come awake,
Assumed by Him so both will new life reap
As He through death to life the world remakes.
She shares in Him who now is earth’s first fruit,
Beomes His New Creation’s Mother, Queen.
New Adam, Eve from whom green branches shoot
Make Eden’s fertile soil with fresh life teem.
Her birthing waters come from Jacob’s well
Made living by His healing crimson flow.
“Do what He says to do,” she all us tells,
And Eden’s waters changed to wine below.
May we, assumed with Mary, also be
Partakers of His Risen Life, sin free.
Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us
Queen of the Rosary
In joy and sorrow, light and glory, we
Participate with Mary in her life
With Jesus from consent through Calvary’s Tree–
Then crowned with Him in dawn beyond the night
She beckons us to follow her Son’s path
With her, to do what He tells us to do:
In decade after decade only ask
For old creation to be made anew
In Triune love–was present at the first,
Created Adam, Eve to procreate
The human race’s heart with Triune thirst
For perfect love inside our Eden’s gate,
Now opened once again with Mary’s “Yes”:
See, Rosary’s the path fulfills our quest.
Queen of Peace, pray for us.
Our Lady, Queen of Peace
In heaven is our Queen of Peace;
In her submission is our will
Made whole, and Spirit is released–
Brings Jesus’ words of “Peace, be still”!
A Jewish girl on whom depends
The faith of every Christian born;
The link of Old and New she sends
To world in peace on Easter morn.
May peace within us overflow,
Peacemaking to the world so flood
That violence dealt a fatal blow
By Shepherd’s Crook formed from a Rood.
May Second David’s own Shalom
From womb through us engulf the earth,
That once again Earth’s Eden’s home;
Creation shown of sacred worth.
From heaven Queen of Peace now speaks,
“Do what He says for you to do,”
For it’s her Son’s true peace we seek:
His heaven’s peace this earth imbue.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,
spare us, O Lord.
Raised with Her to Bliss
In Mary’s heart her joy and sadness kiss
Beneath the Cross where Jesus suffers, dies,
As Nazareth faith is raised to heaven’s bliss
When Jesus gives up Spirit with a sigh,
God’s Spirit into her womb early breathed
Conceiving Son, now given back to Him:
To Father’s broken heart He rises, cleaves
In joy that His one death has killed our sin.
We join with Mary when our hearts repent
Of sin in Adam we ourselves commit
And know her joy, a gift by Spirit sent–
For Father through His Son our sin remits.
In Lamb of God we’re sealed with Mary’s kiss;
He’s spared us to be raised with her to bliss.
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,
graciously hear us, O Lord.
Our Mother’s Living Womb
He lightens up the world with heaven’s smile
Reflected in the eyes of her who holds
The Lamb of God in human arms awhile,
Before He hangs on Cross to world enfold–
Caress our fallen earth of tarnished gold
Washed clean by Blood and Water from His side,
Then held again to heart that’s never cold.
Her nature raised in Trinity abides
With Him, whose will it was to take her nature, die.
From His exalted throne He calls to her,
With that same smile she knew from stable’s hay,
To join Him there to speak for those who were
His flock but early had in Adam strayed.
Now gathered in His heart, all hear Him say,
“You are forgiven; welcome to your home
Prepared for you when I in your grave lay
‘Til Father breathed His Wind and said, “Now come,
Let all arise with Lamb from Mother’s living womb.”
Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.
His Truth Compassion Wrapped
Please, Mary, may your Mother’s tenderness
Call forth from Him His truth, compassion wrapped,
That conscience may be wakened from its nap
To know our sin and to your Son confess
Our lack of virtue and our visciousness,
As He by His death opens Satan’s trap,
Releases us to your soft Mother’s lap
And makes us kin through His true faithfulness.
Please, Mary, pray His judgment lets us hear
That in His mercy, never more condemned,
We can go forth, know never more our sin;
For He has put to death what we once feared
And has our human nature there redeemed,
That we may see His Eden once again.
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ
Mary, Pray
Mary, pray for us today;
Jesus in our hearts to stay;
Father’s love enfold us all;
Holy Spirit on us fall.
Mary, intercessor be;
Pray that others in us see;
Nature pure you gave to Him
Fruit of sacrifice of sin.
Mary, open stable door;
Birthed your Son among God’s poor;
Beckon us to be with you;
Birth in us His life anew.
Mary, point us to your Son
Present when our time begun;
Now in time salvation brings
Water’s wine served by our King.
Mary, let us stand with you;
Suffer where our New Tree grew;
Mother be of His new fruit
Grown from shoot of Jesse’s root.
Mary, in that upper room,
Faithful waiting in our gloom,
Open us to Spirit’s gifts;
Birth His Church to heaven lift.
Mary, Queen of Heaven, pray
For His Church on earth today.
Bride of Spirit, point the way–
Wisdom in our hearts to stay.
Let us pray:
Grant that we your servants, Lord, may enjoy unfailing health of mind and body and through the prayers of the ever Blessed Virgin Mary in her glory,
free us from our sorrows in this world and give us eternal happiness in the next.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
And now our Mother is assumed
To side of her First-born;
From Father’s house in His throne-room,
She comforts all who mourn.
Forever, Lord, we’ll thank you so
For your dear Mother’s part;
Both now and when we heaven go,
She gives us all her heart.
