The Joy of Truth

What is this joy, surpasses pleasure here,
Immerses us in truth we’ve never seen,
‘Twas always there and now dispels our fear,
And with it sin as though it’s never been?

How clearly now we can His wisdom see
Wrapped up in beauty that’s seen all around,
As each becomes the one he’s meant to be,
And heaven’s angels sing their joyful sound.

We enter into joy of Trinity
Who made us all and now redeems each one,
As we before those Three on bended knee
Await the consummation they’ve begun.

Oh, joy! On earth here truth in love we know–
This wisdom Church receives is heaven’s bow.

His Kingdom in Our Hearts

Within our hearts two kingdoms can’t exist—
The world and Christ together cannot reign—
And world, and flesh, and Devil all resist
The kingdom in our hearts Christ came to claim.

When Christ comes in, they try to us persuade
That coexistence can now be achieved;
Yet when we cling to Christ their efforts fade,
And world and flesh and Devil all must leave.

Like angry bees they fight us to the end;
They sting and then with honeyed words they speak,
And promise if we trust they’ll made amends,
But with the stench of Satan their words reek.

For we now know that all they do is lie,
And light of Christ exposes their deceit;
With Spirit’s breath we say to them, “Goodbye,
For Jesus’ kingdom in our hearts we seek.”

Living Vine

From nothing did our Father world create
By Word He spoke, and all of it was done;
And when we sinned He did not hesitate
To send to us His One Begotten Son–

Who with His Word forgave our sin and healed
Our pride with His humility, our cure,
And crushed that Serpent ‘neath His Mother’s heel
With nature from her made by Father pure.

On night before His death He gave to us
His Mother’s nature new in bread and wine
With Word He spoke–created new our dust-
Forever grafted to His Living Vine,

RENEW

Each day, O Lord, my being renew
     With Your death and Your life.
Your glory in me please imbue,
     And through me shine your light.

In me may darkness not abide
     As Your light shines through me,
For in me You Yourself have died
     To make my heart sin free.

Your Sacred Heart now lives inside—
     Transforms my heart within—
As Blood You shed from wounded side
     Is mine—brings life again.

In every Mass Your new life fills
     My heart–renews once more.
In me Your heart is beating still
     As in me new life pours.

May my heart always open be
     To sacrifice You bore;
May my love always bend my knees
     To worship and adore.

Eucharist, Our Resurrection

Some say that we eat angel’s food
From table laid for Eucharist,
But angels have no Body, Blood
And can’t partake of Jesus’ feast.

His Resurrection is His gift
To those are with a body made;
His Blood and Body will us lift
Where human nature will not fade.

For He with human nature lives
Forever in our Father’s home,
And to each one New Adam gives
As He unique in each becomes.

New person in us we can know:
Descends to us from heav’n above
In Body, Blood that to us show
Our Resurrection in His love.

The Spirit’s Music

I feel the Spirit’s touch on my heart strings
As He blows through the Virgin’s heart to mine,
And through her, risen heart of Jesus brings
His song that He may play in my own time.

With my consent He plays His song in me
And through me with His words His wisdom weaves
To paint a picture on His tapestry:|
A vision of the whole we can receive.

From dawn to dusk and through the night He plays
With richness of His multi-colored love,
As He in His creation with us stays
To ever more reveal His treasure trove.

His Spirit with His music glory paints
In every heart with love that’s never faint.

In God’s Image

Let us go forward to what is
     And leave what’s not behind;
For our Old Adam never was
     God’s plan for humankind.

He meant for us to be with Him
     In circle of God’s love:
A triune likeness free from sin
     With hearts shaped from above.

But we chose not to Him obey
     And chose to be what’s not,
Which let the Devil have his way
     And who we are forgot.

To rescue us God sent His Son
     Who freely chose to come–
Was welcomed by God’s holy one:
     Ties to our past undone.

Now we are free to forward go,
     Become who really are;
Old Adam dies, new seed God sows,
     Behind leaves what we were.

For who we were was never real;
     We can’t our own truth make,
And now God’s truth in us revealed;
     We leave behind self-hate.

When we love God, we love ourselves,
     An image of Himself;
Through Holy Family we’re made well–
     Restored to Eden’s health.

The Dawn of Truth

How desperately we try to hold
To what is sinful in our past,
But dawn will not our dark enfold
For sin in light will never last–

His dawn that enters in our life
Proclaims the night is now far gone,
And truth that is His guiding light
Is that for which we’ve always longed.

His light is heaven’s harbinger
Where His truth lives in glory full;
In hearts He shines His Morning Star
And shadows wain, begins light’s rule.

Forgetting past we press ahead
And leave Old Adam in Christ’s grave;
He tries to haunt, but he is dead
And cannot his sin ever save.

For Adam New from grave steps forth
And in each lives His life unique:
Eternal life begins on earth
As Father’s glory each one greets.

A Guest In Heaven’s Rest

In earthly house I am a passing guest,
     Will here know heaven’s rest
     When Holy Spirit breathes
New life from Father through His Son conceived
In Mary’s womb; His human nature formed
Gives us His life when we’re with Jesus born.

With Him I journey on my pilgrim way
     And hear Him to me say,
    “No longer need you fear
All things and people that bring human tears,
For I’ve defeated him who causes all
Your fear in human life since Adam’s fall.”

No longer should we here heed Satan’s lie
     And live in his pig stye,
     For his tongue has been pierced
By Jesus’ Cross as Michael’s sword is fierce,
And Satan who is master of deceit
To hell is cast and his defeat complete.

Promised Paradise

The earth was not designed to be a waste
But Paradise with always open gate,
Yet Satan slithered in to bring his hate
To tempt the man with woman who’s his mate.

Together they ate fruit forbidden them,
Attempted to decree what’s right and wrong,
And conscience, reason in their heartrs grew dim,
So they in Garden Fair did not belong.

Away from Tree of Life they were then cast
With promise of the Lord to His earth save
By fruit from Tree that will forever last
And ransom lives beyond their human graves.

The Father’s Son gave His own Body, Blood
On Cross–through grave become our risen Food.
