Thank You, John the Baptist

We incense burn to our false gods
Whose promises do not come true,
But those who’ll not in their path trod
Are then condemned by those who do.

For those who will not babies kill
Nor countenance all sexual sin
Know violence from those who are filled
With Satan’s lies and sin again.

The conscience of those who do wrong
Disturbed by those who speak the truth,
For they know sin does not belong
In world where God is not aloof.

Come, quickly now, His mercy know;
Repent of what you know is false.
Let Jesus His way to you show,
And your life then will not be lost.

Don’t let Salome’s dance beguile
Your conscience that from God condemns,
For He desires on you to smile
And save you from your fleshly sins.

Come, join the choir that sings His praise
In thanks for new life He will give,
For Jesus who God raised from grave
Desires for you with Him to live.

A Grain of Sand

O Lord, I’m like a grain of sand
Lost in the desert of the earth–
Forever lost in eastern lands
For in world’s sight I’m nothing worth.

And yet from Abraham I’ve come–
Of many I am only one,
But still without me there’s no sum
Of human race from Devil won.

For each is precious in Your sight,
And You’ll not let one get away,
For You will cleanse from Satan’s blight
Each grain that lets You have Your way.

True and Real

Your future comes into our world
And brings Your life into our time
As You step out of clothes unfurled
And in our prose bring Your own rhyme.|

Your Resurrection promise made
Gives us a glimpse of world beyond
Where light illumines darkest shade;
In us through You our world now bonds.

Through You we see what’s true and real
Where You come in our bread and wine:
Your Body, Blood Your truth reveal–
That other world with truth sublime.

May we allow to come what’s real
From You to fallen world through us,
Where Resurrection’s truth You seal
In lives of all who in You trust.

Minds and Hearts He Mends

Oh, why can we not see the truth
Embedded in our minds,
And know in hearts the final proof
That God we will there find?

So mis-directed are our hearts
By minds are led astray,
That restless are our inward parts
As minds our hearts betray.

We don’t believe that we can know
The truth that sets us free;
Our hearts are cast by minds below
Where Satan laughs in glee.

Exhausted we become with search;
At last for help we cry
And listen to the Catholic Church
Who tears of longing dry.

Through Church again breathes heaven’s air–
Blows from our minds that fog–
See Mary who’s Our Lady Fair,
Removes from eye that log.

Our mis-directed hearts are free
As minds to truth will lead:
In praise to Jesus, bend our knee–
Are washed by truth He bleeds.

All our confusion melts away
As we on Calv’ry kneel;
The Devil now does not hold sway
When truth in us revealed.

We willing subjects now become,
Receive God’s truth again,
And are His daughters and His sons:
Both minds and hearts He mends.

Away To Stay

The Devil has us in his grip;
He thinks from grip we cannot slip,
     But he is deadly wrong,
For in his grip we still can praise
The Son who comes to each one save,
    For each to Him belongs.

He enters in that grip with us
To loosen bonds that tie us up–
     With Him we slip away.
When we are gone, the Devil howls
As Lion of Judah at him growls,
     And we’re away to stay.

Joy Abounds

Through tears we see Your shining face
And open arms to us embrace;
No longer will we drink our tears
As love from You casts out our fears.

Our love from You to our love leads,
An answer to our deepest needs,
And human sin You will cast out
With anger gone and with it doubt.

We then discover truth in us
Was sown in hearts, before we trust,
With questions that we need to know
Will lead us to Your Noah’s bow.

Those questions You teach, You address;
Your answer to them is Yourself,
For wisdom’s love is all we need
As still, small voice in us we heed.

In restless hearts You dwell in peace,
And from our sin we find release–
Know love that we have never known
From seeds in our creation sown.

At last Your harvest of us comes,
For who we are, we have become
In fam’ly where we have been born,
And joy abounds–we’re not forlorn.

Your Manna In Each One

Like manna gathered in ourselves,
Your grace is right for everyone;
A thimble or a glass is filled,
And we thank Father’s Only Son.

Each one He makes is filled with Him
As He makes each as meant to be,
And each is filled up to the brim–
Made fit for His eternity.

In Body there’s no jealousy
For He is full in everyone,
And joy is in humility–
Comes from our filling with God’s Son.

New Promised Land

A New Creation we consume
When we partake of Body, Blood;
No longer does death’s scepter loom:
In us His Risen Life now floods.

We see God’s truth with open eyes,
A home above with mercy seat:
New heaven, earth to which we rise
Where we will all our loved ones greet.

We meet through sacrifice He makes
As New Life comes to earth from Cross,
For He creation won’t forsake,
Is not to sin and Satan lost.

His justice is with mercy born
In open hearts receive Him here
With healing oil from Samuel’s horn
As Son of David conquers fear.

He comes to us with open hands
And New Creation to us gives,
For this is His New Promised Land
Where all with Him forever live.

Remade By His Glory

My thoughts in cavalcade march through my mind
In heaven’s order–heal my sin-sick soul:
Re-make me from the inside out in time
As Jesus makes my past and future whole.

My childhood, teen years, all the years ’til now
Are re-made by the power of His Cross
As I no longer to my idols bow
But count as gain all these that I have lost.

For first time I can see my past anew–
A past I couldn’t see ’til it was born
Through empty tomb as all my life I view
And know His glory here my life adorns.

His cavalcade in me His glory makes
As truth at last the thirst of my soul slakes.

Healing Light

Now over is our midnight dark
     Where we lived in despair;
The dawn, now faint, reveals His Ark–
     His love beyond compare.

His Ark here is His Catholic Church,
     Invites us all aboard,
Where we will know the healing touch
     Of Jesus who’s our Lord.

Our Mother’s there to welcome us–
     By her Son’s side she stays
And bids us with her to Him trust,
     Receive His life and way.

For truth of Father with Him comes,
     Borne on the Spirit’s breath–
Become ourselves within the Son
     And rise with Him from death.

And into light with Him we step,
     All gathered to His side;
No longer will our tears be wept:
     In Him we now abide.
