Set Free

The mask’s torn off and now I see
What Satan’s lies have made of me:
A sinful bedlam deep within
And knowledge who I should have been.

But is this revelation done
Because for me God’s Son has won
Redemption that will set me free
To be who I was meant to be?

Come quickly, Spirit, deep within,
And make me who I should have been:
A human person who’s alive
And free from sin–will never die!

My Baptismal Self

May my Baptismal self arise
From water of my birth anew
As self in Adam slowly dies.

To You with heartfelt plea I cry:
In me Your virtues please imbue;
May my Baptismal self arise.

In water you to me draw nigh
To rain in me Your heaven’s dew
As self in Adam slowly dies–

Begin to see with newborn eyes
The world that’s bathed in heaven’s hue;
May my Baptismal self arise—

Awash in glory from on high,
Discern we what You teach is true
As self in Adam slowly dies.

Now washed away is our disguise–
Our image of Him all can view.
May my Baptismal self arise
As self in Adam slowly dies.

At Home With the Saints

A pilgrimage to Trinity
With saints both old and new,
A journey through eternity
     With hearts made ever true.

We never think what might have been
     But only what will be—
A future always free from sin,
And no more death we’ll see.

Together on this journey home
     Adventure, friends we’ll find–
Discover we are not alone,
     Leave only cares behind.

When we’re with saints in heav’n we’ll know
     We’ve only just begun
A journey where we always grow
     In Trinity through Son.

Undying Love

Relentless is the love of God,
As stern as our approaching death,
Will bury us beneath the sod
As we’re redeemed on Spirit’s breath.

He will not ever let us go,
For never-dying is His love,
And He wants us always to know
Our home is with His Son above.

Our hearts are here with His heart one
As He redeems us by His grace,
For in His Son our victory’s won;
In others here we see His face.

United all of us will be
By Spirit’s breath in Body His
Where we will all His goodness see
As each through each Himself He gives.

Born Anew

You enter in me deep within my past
To cast away my darkness with Your light,
Redeem by Spirit that in me will last
Forever—and dispel my sinful night.

Your Spirit points to You who are the Son
Who comes within Your healing Body, Blood–
Makes me the one Your Spirit has begun,
Who stands with Mary ‘neath Your Holy Rood.

With John at Cross Your brother I become,
A son of Mary by Your Father made,
As I become myself by what You’ve done:
A new creation as my old self fades.

Within I have been crucified with You;
You live in me, and I am born anew!

All Souls’ Day

In hope of life anew with Him we die
And know we must be purged, of sin remains,
By Him no longer in His tomb here lies
But comes to us His brothers, sisters claim.

With gratitude at last we say goodbye
To sin that in this life to our hearts clings
And say “begone” to Devil and his lies
As we hear angels up above us sing.

The mist of mercy we go through now clears,
And everlasting dawn the darkness ends;
In purgatory we leave all our fears
As He the heart of each of us now mends.

We knew that when we entered mercy’s mist
Its clear, bright light was Jesus’ welcome kiss.

All Saints’ Day

THE CHURCH’S SAINTS

Grand feast of Saints—I’m overwhelmed
With richness of the Catholic Church,
A gift of God; we with them dwell
In Mother Mary’s tender touch.

We’re branches of Begotten’s vine;
We feel the love of Mother, sign
Of Father’s love in heart so warm–
Will last beyond the end of time

When all are gathered to Christ’s side
By Spirit, through her answer, “Yes,”
And all are born with Him who died,
Who came to be our human guest.

Forevermore the Church proclaims
Through lives of saints:  He’s one of us!
Now raised is He, the Church acclaims,
And always lives in all who trust.

The Church’s words are really His
Who cleanses us of sins last taint,
Defeats the Devil—now we live
With Michael and the Church’s saints.

His New Life

In Him, when we are old we still are green
With sap from Vine to branches, never dries,
As ever new the world can see His sheen
In hearts made new with love that never dies.

Our fruit will ever grow, improve with age
As deepens stream in us of His new life,
And bars of earth no longer are our cage,
For door now open brings us heaven’s light.

From glory into glory we all grow
As image in each one reflects His truth—
Through virtues’ lens becomes His dawning glow
Of Eden New in our Baptismal fruit.

We’re nourished by the sap of His shed Blood
Through us–for earth becomes His cleansing flood.

Sunset, Sunrise

Your sunset’s beauty escorts us to sleep
Into the night where bad dreams are no more,
And light within your sunset wakens deep
Your Image in us ‘twas there long before

Our sin had marred what You in our hearts keep.
Created to Your Trinity adore,
We’ll not forever from our own sin reap
The death which is our sleep that’s open door

To sunrise on the other side of night
Where cross of Him has buried all our sin,
Forever sleeps—will never in His light
Awaken to disturb our dreams again

As sunset, sunrise both within our sight.
We see what was before has always been.

“You’re Mine”

Creation and Redemption both are one:
The second saves the good that’s in the first,
And both are Father’s plan through His own Son
In love for us that quenches Father’s thirst–

For we in Triune life participate
In glory—fills us, we become alive
In Him who draws us in to satiate
Us with His love that in us never dies–

Creates us in His Image born to love
Himself and others in His Image made
As flies between us Holy Spirit’s dove–
Wipes sin away from Image He inlaid.

Forever in His glory we’re to shine
In freedom found in Him who says, “You’re mine.”
