Our Sacrifice

Each one’s been made a priest before the Lord
To offer sacrifice of contrite heart,
And with this offering we will here adore
The One who came below to take our part.

Our sacrifice is joined with His who came
To sacrifice His life for each of us–
Forgives our sin, removes our guilt and shame
As we surrender hearts and in Him trust.

His Spirit comes as incense from above
To raise our hearts with His to give new life
From Father wrapped in His undying love
That scatters darkness with eternal light.

Forgiveness brought by Him will never fade,
And we no longer live in our sin’s shade.

His Living Sacrifice

A living sacrifice He makes
     That’s once forever done;
It will forever our thirst slake;
     Forgiveness comes through One.

For One is God’s Begotten Son–
     In every heart reveals
O’er sin and death His victory won;
     From Adam’s fall He heals.

His Blood and Body to us come
     In common wine and bread;
He enters us, and we become
     His living ‘mong the dead.

For everyone who takes Him in
     Forever with Him lives;
We’re everlasting, free from sin;
     His new creation gives.

The Spirit Blows

The Spirit blows where Jesus wills
     And we cannot control–
Takes Blood from Crosson us to spill
     To splash within our souls.

Both Blood and Body have been raised,
     Are now on altar laid–
By Spirit then blows through the nave
     With Body, Blood to save.

Receive the host on tongue or hand,
     With grateful hearts “Amen!”
And we with Jesus take our stand,–
      In us He lives again.

Where ‘ere we go we will Him take
     To others who we’ll meet,
And He will them disciples make–
     Sing praises at His feet!

For All Souls

For all the souls who’ve gone before,
We offer prayers this special day;
With them we Jesus all adore
And follow Him who is the Way.

He gives us Truth and Life above
Where we’ll join saints when we are pure
And sing to Him who’s perfect love–
For us the Cross He has endured.

He transforms us from dark to light
To see the angels ‘round Him ring
Where no more sin brings us dark night;
We soar to Him on Spirit’s wings.

For His forgiveness draws us home
Where all our tears are wiped away,
And to His Bride He now says, “Come
And live in My eternal day.”

Heroines and Heros

The heroines and heroes of our faith
We celebrate in speech and song today;
They cheer for us as we walk earthly path
And follow Him who is Life, Truth, and Way.

No more do we to godless heroes look
But to the ones who held the faith steadfast
And never Jesus in their lives forsook–
Were true to Him and to His life that lasts.

Through them we see the floodgates open wide
As Father pours His grace from heaven down,
And we in Spirit with His saints abide–
Are clothed inside with Jesus’ holy gown.

They celebrate with us our Father’s Son
Who died for us to rise in victory won.

Zion’s Road

O Lord, may my heart be a Zion’s road
Where bad intentions will be swept away
And You will come and share with me the load
While we together walk the pilgrim way.

May fellowship with others cheerful be
As side-by-side with You all of us walk,
While we with clearing eyes Your road signs see,
And with You and each other we will talk.

When we along the road encounter storms
May we see rainbow hidden in those clouds
And by it’s light see virtue that adorns
Our hearts made humble now–no longer proud.

May we ahead on Zion’s road see light
And know Your humble presence is Your might.

The Incense of Our Prayers

I take my thurible in hand
     And send to You my prayers;
 Like incense blown by Spirit’s fan
My faith tells me You’ll hear.

Then sweetest smell comes to the earth–
     Descends when You reply;
Hear I faint sounds of angels’ mirth
     When You to me draw nigh.

Your happiness and joy come down
     And enter in my heart
To cast from me my lingering frown–
     In heaven has no part.

For when I pray I too ascend
     In incense breathed by You,
And broken heart in me You mend:
     You create me anew.

Our Shepherd’s Voice

Our Shepherd’s voice is strong and clear
And travels down the length of time
As through the Church to us draws near
Through bishop with the bread and wine.

Through hands laid on we hear His voice
With Confirmation’s baptized ears,
And know that Jesus made the choice
To speak in words that we can hear.

His human words through bishop speaks
And through His pastors to our hearts;
We recognize the one who seeks
With Jesus’ truth to us impart.

As sheep we know a pastor false
Whose honeyed words will make no sense;
We separate the wheat and dross
And know the pastors Jesus sent.

We hunger for His truth in words
That live in Body and His Blood,
And we can recognize our Lord
As we ‘neath cross with Mary stood.

The pastors false deny His cross
And never will deny themselves,
So, in the end, they will be lost,
For they refuse His truth to tell.

Circle of Love

What is this trampled in the dust
     By Him who carries Cross?
It is our sin, our great disgust;
     For us His life He lost.

But then we learn He did not lose;
     He gives for us His life,
And we can now His new life choose
     As light removes sin’s night.

Surrender to Him and we’ll rise
     To new life, heaven sent–
Unique in each and just right size
     Will bring us merriment.

The joy of heaven we now know
     With angels, saints above,
For Trinity has loved us so
     And gives to us Their love.

Now in the circle of those Three
     There is no place for sin,
And we to glory bend our knees;
     Creation’s born again!
