Mercy’s Dawn

His mercy’s like a sun that never sets
But comes to us in ever-breaking dawn
And we no longer are by sin beset
But bask in light for which we’ve always longed.

When we see Him we know what we desire
As His forgiveness gives to us new life
With hearts aflame by Holy Spirit’s fire
To follow Him who gives to world His light.

When darkness seeks to on us each descend
We look to tabernacle where light dwells
And He bursts forth to shine on us again—
In Body, Blood comes our Emmanuel.

And then we see His light alive within
Each face of those we meet along the way;
We see Him work to free us all from sin,
As He leads us to His eternal day.

A Desert Storm

A desert storm has broken loose
     To cleanse both air and earth–
Breaks from creation Devil’s noose
     With heaven’s violent mirth.

And likewise all our hearts are washed
     By pain of Calvary’s storm–
Makes Sharon’s Rose in each heart blush
     With life through death reborn.

Through clean’sed heart all earth and air
     Smell of the Spirit’s breath;
Has never seemed the world so fair
     As when she’s free of death.

Image Renewed

Do you believe that I am like yourself,
All inward turned and bound into a knot,
Besotted by the world’s fake fame and wealth,
In love, not with what is but what is not?

Return to me and lay your burden down;
I long to teach you wisdom in your heart.
You need not in the flood of this world drown;
I’ll raise you up to Calvary’s truth impart.

With me I’ve crucified your sin and death;
You do not need to tremble in despair,
For I have breathed anew my living breath
In you to give new life from heaven’s air.

My image now in you has been renewed;
You’re free to love what is My truth imbued.

Holy Water

May we become as wet as Gideon’s fleece
With water Jesus’ body holy makes
That from our sin and death we find release
As He our thirst for righteousness will slake.

When He descends in Jordan’s water, bathes,
He cleanses all creation’s water then
To make it means through which His Spirit saves,
No matter where we are, no matter when.

When we drink water changed to wine, then Blood,
His water, Blood, from side will enter us,
And we can stand where He Himself has stood
As Pilates of this world we will not trust.

For we to Jesus render what is due
With joy in hearts are made forever new.

Our Virtues Sealed

We see a plumb line held in nail-scarred hand
To measure us to see if we are true
And will for Him on straight and narrow stand
In Eden’s East–bring Eden back in view.

Our bark’s made strong as up against a Cross
We’re held by arms of Him whose strength is meek,
And virtues that for us had once been lost
Will rise with Him, His Father’s kingdom seek.

We lift our eyes above His Tree and see
A paradise without our crooked lines
Where each of us with Him will someday be–
An image true of Trinity divine.

His plumb line takes the measure of our hearts
That He may seal the virtues He imparts.

 New Life

With natural drama God makes manifest
Salvation by His Spirit Jesus breathes
In natural world so all of us are blessed–
Gives glimpse of heaven ‘round our world is wreathed.

And every fall we see in natural world
The death it dies on dead wood of the Cross,
Yet in its grave will lie God’s priceless pearl–
Will rise again now shorn of Adam’s dross.

In winter its dead leaves blow over earth
And all creation ‘neath its cover sleeps,
Awaiting in earth’s womb for its re-birth
With promise of new life it always keeps.

In spring new life in natural world we see
As it participates in risen life
With Jesus, is becoming what will be
On other side of death in dawn’s new light.

When final death to natural world will come,
Forever will we breathe that new world’s air;
At last we see what world itself becomes
When we step into Paradise so fair.

The Hour Glass of Time

The hour glass of time is running out
For all of us live in eternity,
And destination never is in doubt
When we accept forgiveness through His Tree.

Raised high, He calls the world to His embrace
To trust that night of death is heaven’s dawn
O’er Eden, resurrected through our race
Where always from the first we have belonged.

When glass He made was turned, then He began
His plan conceived before in heart of love
To heaven populate from Eden land
With Adam’s children raised with Him above.

O Lord, come run with us, remove our doubt;
Know in eternity time won’t run out.

Our Memory of You

Long buried in forgetfulness
In grave dug by our willfulness
Is memory of You.
Yet even in our heartlessness
Remains a hint of Eden’s bliss
     Which creeps in memory’s view.

In conscience does that memory live,
Calls us to what alone You give:
     Forgiveness of our sin.
When our New Adam’s grace we taste,
We see renewal of our race
     And long for birth again.

Then to our East of Eden comes
The Second One from our true home
     To seed of memory grow.
He wets us with His water, Blood,
And gives to us Himself for food
     That we may Eden know.

In memory of His sacrifice
We future see: our paradise,
     New Eden born from past.
Our conscience blooms in Jesus Christ,
Forgets in virtue all our vice–
     His Spirit breathed at last.

His Way

So many are Your ways, O Lord,
     And yet You are the Way;
For only as we You adore
     Will You in us hold sway.

Our greatest gift from You will come:
     It’s life You give to each,
For heaven is our lasting home;
     The Way there You will teach.

On Way with You new life we know
     As You forgive our sin,
For You in us Yourself bestow,
     And we are born again.

On journey made we others meet
     Who’re on their way with You;
New friends we make and old friends greet
     As all keep You in view.

And when we safely will arrive,
     Together sing Your praise,
We’re fully human and alive–
     In Resurrection raised!
