RED AND BLUE UNITE

In dark of night we see a star—
A Cross of Light in our dark sky—
And see three wise who’ve travelled far
To see the One in manger lies.

This starry Cross a prophecy
Of where this Baby will be raised
To draw to Him all who can see
By wisdom’s light and give Him praise.

Our Father’s wisdom in Him seen
To all creation now renew;
Begins with Mother who’s His Queen
As bright star-light bathes her in blue.

Her blue unites with His Blood red
In purple lighted by Star-Cross
To rise in Him they all thought dead
In dawn where star-light is not lost.

THREE WISE MEN

In manger they find One they seek:
Were led by Star to place He lay;
All earth is His who for us meek
Among us lies on earthly hay.

This day see heaven come to earth
To take earth back to heaven’s home
And give creation His new birth—
Three wise tell all to Him should come.

For wisdom has revealed Him now,
For she’s the wisest one of all;
Those three before His cradle bow
At altar made from cattle stall.

Together we to stable go
And plight our troth to Him there lies,
For secrets we all long to know
Reside in manger, make us wise.

WISDOM OF THE COMMON FOLK

In three the wisdom of all people found,
Known by the common folk in every age,
Who will not by the enemy be bound
But seek escape from sin, the Devil’s cage.
In every age, we in old Adam’s line
Embrace the One from Abraham comes down
Through Jesse’s root and David–will now find
The One earth’s thorns will wear as kingly crown.
He’s nestled now all snug in Mother’s arms,
Watched over by her husband, sees their star,
And knows these three come not to do Him harm
But worship Him for all who’re near and far.
The wisdom of these three we all receive;
By fallen one no longer are deceived.

Who Could Have Imagined?

That He who is and who was and who is to come, the Great I AM, would descend to
Earth–
That He would choose a humble virgin maid to give birth to Him in loving
obedience–
That He would bear our sins unto Himself to free us from our human plight–
That He would rise to new life and take us into Himself through Baptism–
That He would feed us with His own Body and Blood, Bread of Life, and Cup of
Salvation–
That His Holy Spirit would transform us to witness to His Way, Truth, and Life–
That He would bestow on us the greatest gift, eternal life with Him, His Mother
Mary, and all the saints and angels–

That we would be born with Him in Bethlehem?

The One who says “I am who am”
Descends to earth at Bethlehem.
Our maker is of woman born;
No longer is mankind forlorn,

For into man-made sinful waste
Comes He who is from our sin chaste,
To make us all to be like him
Who came to earth at Bethlehem.

A virgin maid with open arms
Here welcomes Him with heart so warm,
That all of us can know His love–
Descends to earth by Spirit’s dove;

For Mary is the first to bear
His life that now we all can share,
As all who are baptized in Him
Are born with Him in Bethlehem.

May we be born again with Jesus this Christmas, to live with Him forever!

Light of the World

What is this light that shines from stable door
To lift our spirits poor?
For by its light we see
Within that stable are our Holy Three,
A Proto-Icon of His Three above,
A mirror image of His perfect love.

Their open door now beckons all to come
That fam’lies may become
Again their likeness here,
As He from all our hearts casts out our fear,
And we, a New Creation, on earth born
With Him–light of the world on Christmas morn.

St.Joseph, Protector of the Holy Family

His yes came last and made them three,
Protects his Mary and her Son;
Together they form trinity,
A likeness of God’s Three-In-One.

His far-off gaze anticipates
The danger to those three will come;
Obeys his angel, never late,
‘Til safely in their Nazareth home.

In their home Mother Mary’s heart
Will order life around her Son:
A model meant for us from start,
When Eden family was begun.

Intended we to live as three,
Of father, mother, and our child;
Restored in Holy Family, see
Defeated there are Satan’s wiles.

Christmas Celebration

We celebrate in little things
That purify the heart:
The joy that in our families brings
Christ’s blessings to impart.

He came to us in littleness,
A Baby in a crib;
Such power in His gentleness,
For God is never glib–

He speaks in Baby’s still, small voice
And smiles in Mary’s face,
Sees her who for us made her choice
To save the human race.

Mediatrix she becomes,
Stands always by His side;
Has never to our sin succumbed,
For in Him she abides.

Through cross and grave and empty tomb
She follows Father’s Son,
Who lived His life first in her womb
And all our sin undone.

In all the every-after years
We’ll Christmas celebrate,
For He casts out all human fears
As each heart pure He makes.

Expectant Hearts

Our Father’s wisdom here descends
On Holy Spirit’s breath.
His Son begotten will earth mend–
Save us from sin and death.

We eagerly await His birth;
With Mary, Joseph led
To find again our Eden worth–
In Him be raised from dead.

Expectantly our longing hearts
Repent and hope in Him;
From Mary’s womb, our Father’s art
Is seen in Bethlehem.

Come quickly, Lord, that we may be
Of water, Spirit born:
Renewed, adopted, and set free
In You on Christmas morn!

ELIJAH’S CAVE

Lord, let me find Elijah’s cave
That I may hear your voice;
In Bethlehem that cave you gave
To all who make your choice.

For in that little Baby’s cry
Is your voice still and small;
While in a cattle stall you lie,
You’ve come to save us all.

Not in the rush of worldly noise
Does your voice to us speak,
But to those hearts for you are poised
And know you’re strong, not weak.

Now from that cattle stall impart
Your righteousness to us
That we may have transfigured hearts,
So we may world’s noise hush.

Your cave to all becomes a nave,
‘Tis your own Church’s womb,
A nave that leads us to your grave
And through an empty tomb.

Then lay on us your prophet’s cloak
That we will your Word teach–
A cloak that you in your Blood soak,
For it is you we preach.

Then with Elijah let us rise
From cave to heaven’s throne;
In Church’s ark ride to your sky:
Through Church to heaven’s home.
