Living Vine

From nothing did our Father world create
By Word He spoke, and all of it was done;
And when we sinned He did not hesitate
To send to us His One Begotten Son–

Who with His Word forgave our sin and healed
Our pride with His humility, our cure,
And crushed that Serpent ‘neath His Mother’s heel
With nature from her made by Father pure.

On night before His death He gave to us
His Mother’s nature new in bread and wine
With Word He spoke–created new our dust-
Forever grafted to His Living Vine,

Our Mother’s Living Sacrifice

As living sacrifice to You,
     Our Mother gave herself.
The law of gift is born anew
     To show us human wealth–

A wealth in poverty is found
     In those with spirit’s poor
Who know their sin and death are bound
     This side of Eden’s door.

Another door is opened here
     In Mary’s Virgin womb,
Where faith casts out our death-caused fear
     That’s in Him raised from tomb–

A tomb made empty as He fills
     Our hearts with Mary’s love;
Her human nature He instills
     In us now ris’n above.

Her nature joins His, from her giv’n,
     The first of all us raised.
We’ll join them both in Eden’s heav’n:
     Our Savior, Mother praised!

Mother of God’s Lamb

Unknowing, Mary stands within that cloud
Foretold by Simeon so long ago
And ponders in her heart, that loves You so,
Your myst’ry in God’s providence He shrouds.

Her faith first shown to us at Nazareth
Marks her as one in line of Abraham
When she becomes Your Mother; God’s own Lamb
Now slain, our sinful hearts You take to death.

While our blessed Mother ponders once again
God’s ways which seem to her inscrutable,
Her faith is raised with You from crucible,
As veil of sin and death You for us rend.

In Mary’s cloud, Lord Jesus, give us faith
In You that we may know we share her fate.

RENEW

Each day, O Lord, my being renew
     With Your death and Your life.
Your glory in me please imbue,
     And through me shine your light.

In me may darkness not abide
     As Your light shines through me,
For in me You Yourself have died
     To make my heart sin free.

Your Sacred Heart now lives inside—
     Transforms my heart within—
As Blood You shed from wounded side
     Is mine—brings life again.

In every Mass Your new life fills
     My heart–renews once more.
In me Your heart is beating still
     As in me new life pours.

May my heart always open be
     To sacrifice You bore;
May my love always bend my knees
     To worship and adore.

Saints Joachim and Anne

To Joachim, Anne our homage due
For standing by your daughter true–
And Joseph, too, her earthly spouse,
With new-born Baby in their house.

We thank you both that you believed
Your daughter’s word that she conceived
With Holy Spirit her blessed Child,
For she with man had never laid.

We ask your prayers that all of us
Will learn with you to Mary trust
And, through her, trust her Son who’s come
To make of earth a heaven’s home.

Sts. Joachim, Anne, pray that our hearts
A stable be where Son imparts
His grace to us who now adore
Him and His mother evermore.

New Virgin Earth

She was for us new Virgin Earth
From whom New Adam would be born,
And all in Him are not forlorn
But share in our Redeemer’s mirth.

As Adam from the earth first sprang,
Our Second Adam from her came.
From Virgin soil, then each became
A living man–God’s praises sang.

But Second Adam never fell,
So death on Him can have no claim;
And all in Him may reap the same,
As we now sing sin’s own death knell–

For raised with Him, God’s glory reigns:
New Heaven and New Earth arise;
His rainbow paints the morning skies.
What Adam lost, Christ has regained!

His Cross for Eve

O Lord, save us from garden we have grown
O’er run with weeds, a crop you have not sown,
But planted by our sin and Devil’s own
Temptation of our mother, all alone.
Please rescue her through crop of Second Eve
Sown in the soil of Nazareth by One
Who came to Mary, asked her own free leave
To mother be of Father’s only Son.
Through Vine that sprouts in Bethlehem, entwine
All people here choked by our weeds of sin,
And grow good fruit on branches of that Vine
So Eve may eat of your Life Tree again–
Then Mother Eve may sons and daughters claim
Through Cross and Mary in Your Holy Name.

Eucharist, Our Resurrection

Some say that we eat angel’s food
From table laid for Eucharist,
But angels have no Body, Blood
And can’t partake of Jesus’ feast.

His Resurrection is His gift
To those are with a body made;
His Blood and Body will us lift
Where human nature will not fade.

For He with human nature lives
Forever in our Father’s home,
And to each one New Adam gives
As He unique in each becomes.

New person in us we can know:
Descends to us from heav’n above
In Body, Blood that to us show
Our Resurrection in His love.

Mother Zion

Come, Father, through Jerusalem
     Love me in Mary’s arms,
For Mary has your bride become
     In her Jerusalem’s charm.

You loved your city Zion fair:
     That city now is found
In Mary, Mother, in Your care;
She is earth’s holy ground.

So pure and fertile is her heart;
     She mothers your own Son.
Through her a perfect mother’s art
     Comes from your Three-In-One.

Then her blessed Son from their shared Tree
     Gave her to faith-filled John.
Now Mother of your Church is she
     And Mother of each one.

Through her your Holy Spirit breathes
     To every sin-lost child,
That each lost child may now receive
     Your Spirit’s mercy mild.

Then take us all to Mary’s lap
     With Son where angels sing,
As new life flows from their Trees sap,
     Borne home on angel’s wings.

Jesus Saves Our Hearts

Deceitful words the Devil speaks
     As fangs flick out and in;
With stench his honeyed words still reek,
     Entices us to sin.

The fangs he flicks are razor sharp
     To virtue cut away,
As honeyed words our minds can warp
     If we let him hold sway.

Alone we cannot him resist,
     And Jesus is our help;
We call on Son who takes the risk
     To offer us Himself.

In every heart He blunts the strike|
     Of fangs are Satan’s tongue,
And Satan howls with his dislike
     Of Him came down those rungs.

For Jesus to each heart descends
     On ladder from the sky,
And every heart He enters, mends
     With virtues from on high.

With virtues we can with Him climb,
     Bring earth to heaven’s door;
New Eden in Him we will find
     With Paradise restored.
