His Blood Removes Our Sin

This is my Body, Blood He said—
His Word that’s spoken by God’s Son—
Drips from His Cross is His Blood red,
His Mother’s blood from only Son.

Appears again on altar spread
In every Catholic Church for us;
His Body there appears as bread
To give His life to all who trust.

With Him in us new life we live—
A life that will forever last—
From Father, Son, and Spirit gives
A future and a brand new past.

For sin is from our past removed
And to each one He gives a task
To spread through world undying love
From Him who loves His world so vast.

Divine and Human

God’s Faithful Maid, you heard His Word and kept
It in your heart for all your children born
Of faith in Him—no longer are forlorn.
In Father’s love, He, friend of Lazarus, wept
And raised His friend, who from a grave then stepped—
Anticipation of that Easter morn
When, raised from grave, He would all time adorn
With His new life in your blessed womb had slept.

At Mother’s breast, you suckled Holy Son
Whose Godly nature with your human joined,
In hypostatic union still distinct,
To suffer and to die and rise as one
And take what Satan had from Him purloined—
As once again our earth to Heaven linked.

Essence and Existence

We’re born within a world ‘twas planned
     Before we were conceived,
And in its laws we’re called to stand
     In world we have received.

For essence of this world’s a gift
     From Him–each one creates:
His laws are meant to each one lift
     Above to heaven’s gate.

Yet we have spurned those laws of His
And claim that we are free–
Reject the essence of what is,
Claim on our own to be,

Say our existence matters first.
     We cast His laws aside,
Think we ourselves can quench our thirst
     And don’t in truth abide.

To chaos then we all descend;
     Each struggles to survive,
And we ourselves can’t make amends
     For wrong that’s deep inside.

Then He who made the essence comes
     To our existence save;
Our Father’s fully human Son
     Goes down into His grave.

He takes our sin into Himself,
Then with Him we are raised.
Existence is restored to health,
     And we His essence praise!

His Wayward Sheep

Our Lord has come and found His wayward sheep
That wandered and in thicket’s sin was caught.
Left to ourselves our fate would be death’s sleep,
But He came and each sheep that’s lost He sought.

In world outside of thicket each one finds
The place where he was always meant to be–
A place unique that’s ever in God’s mind
Where each will be content, at last be free.

For thicket’s sin is always make believe—
A world that’s false and can’t forever be—
For we in sinful heart cannot conceive
What it is like to be from thicket free.

He comes for each of us, and we are found,
For in His voice we hear salvation’s sound.

Forgetting What Lies Behind

Forgetting now what lies behind
We see Who for us lies ahead:
Upon the altar more than sign–
He’s Jesus risen from the dead.

In Body, Blood to us He comes,
And we toward future with Him turn
As in us He will now become
The one from whom we’ll wisdom learn.

Our desert’s changed into His streams
As living water through us flows,
And earth no longer what it seemed
But door to heaven we now know.

For He who’s lifted high above
Created all for His new life
That gives to us His perfect love
And shines in each His Father’s light.

Mary and Eve

O Lord, save us from garden we have grown
O’er run with weeds, a crop you have not sown,
But planted by our sin and Devil’s own
Temptation of our mother, all alone.
Please rescue her through crop of Second Eve
Sown in the soil of Nazareth by One
Who came to Mary, asked her own free leave
To mother be of Father’s only Son.
Through Vine that sprouts in Bethlehem, entwine
All people here choked by our weeds of sin,
And grow good fruit on branches of that Vine
So Eve may eat of your Life Tree again–
Then Mother Eve may sons and daughters claim
Through cross accomplished in your Holy Name.

His Web Is Cut

The Devil weaves a web that will entrap
All those who try to save themselves below–
With music soothes us into earthly nap
So he on us his falsehoods can bestow.

But then a knife is raised on Calvary’s hill
That cuts through web with offer to be free
If we consent to let Him Adam kill
In us who have to Devil bent our knee.

We say “Please cut!” and know we’ll feel His pain
As He in us kills who should never be,
And other side of cut we know we’ve gained
Our true life we for first time in Him see.

He takes our hand and leads us from that web
As with Him we have risen from the dead.

Adorned By Truth

We think creation might be wearing out
For through it we can see a growing light
And wonder what this light can be about,
For in it we can now take such delight.

Then through it we see life for which we’ve longed,
And with that life our death will be no more;
With Jesus we arise in breaking dawn
As we, in new creation, Him adore.

We see creation’s garment is not worn
But cloaks the truth that through it heaven comes;
The more we follow Jesus, truth adorns
Each one as in His likeness we become,

For through the old He gives to each anew
As in us He is hidden in plain view.

Set Free

His living water Jesus gives
To all who say, “Your will, not mine,”
With Mary—first from Him receives
The water transformed into wine.

His blessed Mother gives us birth
In Him who is her only Son,
And we discover sacred worth
Of all who have this life begun.

Created in His sovereign love,
He re-creates with our consent,
And living water from above
Brings Father’s mercy through veil rent.

In Him we now ourselves become
To give Him joy eternally.
In heaven our sin is undone,
And we at last will be set free.

Meant to Be

The mask’s torn off and now I see
What Satan’s lies have made of me:
A sinful bedlam deep within
And knowledge who I should have been.

But is this revelation done
Because for me God’s Son has won
Redemption that will set me free
To be who I was meant to be?

Come quickly, Spirit, deep within,
And make me who I should have been:
A human person who’s alive
And free from sin–will never die!
