Past and Future

Our yesterdays we think are come and gone,
And yet they still can plague us to this day
Until the Lord within us says, “Begone!”
When He forgives our sin and has His way.

Our home that is to come is present now
In Word and Sacrament where Jesus lives;
Through water, bread, and wine He keeps His vow
To claim each one of us as always His.

In water, Spirit comes to through us flow,
And bread becomes His Body, wine His Blood,
So real world with Him we forever know
As we stand ‘neath the Cross where Mary stood.

We live in present and eternity
With mem’ries of the past and future dreams,
And Son of God decides what is to be
As past and future He in us redeems.

Through death we pass to resurrected life
With Him who seeks Himself to each one give,
And darkness in each one gives way to light
As we with all redeemed His new life live.

The Father’s Gift

Blessed Mary is the Father’s gift—
Receives for us His Spirit’s breath,
Conceives a Son who will us lift
From faithlessness and sentenced death.

In Jesus’ will she does precede
The Spirit’s gift at Pentecost;
He gives us Mother as He bleeds
For us the wine from Eden lost.

New Adam’s Blood by Spirit comes
To all who will with Mary wait.
His sisters, brothers we become—
Receive the Spirit with her faith.

With her Son, crushes serpent’s head,
Creating human race anew
With Him through woman raised from dead;
Our Mother’s love has seen us through.

Transformed

The Devil howls in his defeat
When he sees Our Lord’s Body raised–
Refuses to His mercy greet,
Acknowledge all creation saved.

From wisdom he forever runs
While everything he tears apart,
And unity forever spurns
Turns back on love our Lord imparts.

But we all glory in His grace
Proclaimed on earth in Body seen
Of Our Lord, dead, then raised from grave
To take us where we’ve never been.

Our destiny’s to be transformed
With Jesus to be glorified
In body new by Jesus formed–
Grown from the old that with Him died.

Cleansing Water

He is the Rock who water gives
    That we may thirst no more–
Who gives His life that we may live
    In Holy Spirit’s pour.

His Spirit to us water brings
    To bathe us in new birth,
And we with Him Hosannas sing—
    Know joy in Father’s mirth.

For joyful laughter is the fruit
    Of our Baptismal wet
When grafted into Jesse’s Root;
    We’re caught in Jesus’ net.

His water cleanses deep within
    As inside comes from out
To cleanse us each from Adam’s sin—
    Removes from us our doubt.

His image in us He now claims
    To live with Him above,
For all along this is His aim:
    We live in Triune love.

Holy Ground

A prisoner I no longer am;
From chains I’ve been set free.
No longer slave in eastern lands,
I can be fully me.

The world without so different looks
When my sin taints it not;
I see there’s nothing God forsook—
From all removes sin’s blot.

My freedom means I’m free to see
The goodness lies beneath
And see the world as meant to be
Beneath His olive wreath.

For wreath from Him us all wraps ‘round
As we breathe heaven’s air—
Makes all our earth His holy ground:
Again, His garden fair.

To Know What Always Is

O Lord, come in my secret place
     Where I have kept my fear;
Invade me with Your healing grace
     As You to me draw near.

Use this for my eternal good
     And for my family too–
Together stand where Mary stood,
     Your Trinity in view.

May Holy Family intercede
     For all of us below
That Your Son’s Blood for us will bleed
     His truth in hearts to know.

May we know now what always is
     That we are made by You.
To all, eternal life You give;
     We sing Your praise anew.

The Truth for Which We Long

Where is the peace for which we long?
     It’s found within our hearts,
For there we know that we belong
     To Him who life imparts.

For life from Him’s the greatest gift,
     The source from which we love,
As praise from lips to Him we lift–
     Soars on the wings of Dove.

From dark desires He sets hearts free
     So life from Him is loosed,
And we are who we’re meant to be,
     The bearers of His truth.

His truth is peace that sets hearts free
     To love and to adore:
His truth that we are meant to see
     And live forever more.

Give Thanks to Mary

Bathed in Heaven’s Light

He hides Himself to enter us
     To bring His Cross within
And crucifies our Adam’s dust
     So we’ll be born again.

His life in each will new arise,
     And we see Eden new,
Enlightened by His own Son’s rise
     To sparkle with His dew.

That wet baptizes all inside,
     Our sin is washed away,
And He in us will now abide
     To lead us to His day.

That day on earth to heaven linked
     By Holy Family Three;
We eat His flesh and His Blood drink
     And bend to Him our knee.

With all in whom He does now dwell,
     We celebrate new life,
For cast away from Satan’s spell,
     We’re bathed in heaven’s light.

Hailstones from Above

He hurls His hailstones at our sinful hearts
To pierce them with His ever-living love,
And we discover His love from the start
Created us to live with Him above.

Those hailstones hurled from heaven meant to save
All His creation of which we’re the link
With heaven that with earth He to us gave
And we’re not meant in hell below to sink.

For gate between the two is Eden New,
As hailstones water Garden we once left
And in baptism Eden springs anew
To life from which we once were there bereft.

His hailstones bring salvation from above
Are meant to heal with His undying love.
