Queen of Heaven, Earth

First Eve’s own choice to eat gave back her crown
And lost for all of us was earth’s first queen;
Now earth’s sharp thorns must shape a crown wrapped ‘round
The brow of One will enter Eden clean.

God’s angel sent to maid of Nazareth–
he child of Anna, Mary is her name–
To ask her womb to open for His breath
To bring His Son to fleshly nature claim.

Like Eve, her heart is free to make that choice
For her heart’s pure by choice of her first Son
To wear that crown of thorns with silent voice—
Bleeds back in time from cross, her sin undone.

And Mary of New Eden crowned as Queen
Of heaven and of earth, her Son makes clean.

His Purchase of My Life

My life is lived with purchase made
     By Him who set me free;
The price for me by Him was paid,
     Raised high on Calvary’s Tree.

His Blood now courses through my veins,
     A ransom for my soul;
In me unbridled sin is reined,
     My blood no longer cold.

His Sprit warms me to the depths,
     And I am born anew;
I find in His heart I am kept
     Where virtues are imbued.

He sets me free to roam the earth,
     Proclaim His Body, Blood–
Will give to all New Eden’s birth
     From hill where His Cross stood.

Now we will all to glory go—
     A gift for us He’s bought—
And we will all His goodness know,
     For His love has us sought.

Mercy and Truth

No mercy can there be without God’s truth,
And it will hurt when sin by truth exposed,
Yet in our hearts we know that His reproof
Will mercy bring to in our hearts repose.

And in His mercy He gives each his place
To play his part in His eternal dance,
For He wants not to see an empty space
That will be filled by risky human chance.

His providence with crooked lines writes straight,
And human choice is woven into whole;
He may not be on time but never late:
He comes to save for Him each human soul.

For mercy and His truth forever form
The world from which creation new’s reborn.

Eternity and Time

We think eternity comes after time–
So slavishly our minds accept the clock
And fail to see the Spirit’s hand unlock
The door above this horizontal line
To let descend the balm to heal time’s fear
With certitude that time is not our end
But where eternity for us begins:
His truth is meant to wipe away our tears–
Will gird us for our battles here on earth–
See vict’ry in the light of Triune Love
Who penetrates from timelessness above–
Brings joy amid the pain of second birth,
Returns our Eden’s East to Paradise
By Cross raised high that’s His new Tree of Life.

Our Father’s Lamp

Is that a Lamp we see ahead
     That casts its light around?
By it we find our eyesight’s fed,
     And with it truth is found.

For as we look along its light,
     More truth we then can see;
From meaningless and stormy night
     We are by light set free.

Lamp’s beauty we see in each face
     As light shines through each one;
Forever after we see grace
     From Lamp who is God’s Son.

The more we see the more light grows
     As Lamp we see is love,
And in His heart He each one knows–
     Prepares a place above.

Then we see His humility
     Has brought His light to us.
We by Him are from sin set free;
     He shapes our mortal dust–

And when we die His light enfolds
     Each one within His heart,
For His love’s always purest gold
     And to us joy imparts.

TWO FLOWERS

In Nazareth a Lily born,
     Our long-awaited Eve;
A seed from Resurrection morn
     Blown back on Spirit’s breeze

That Lily blossoms sapphire blue
     In Eden’s valley still.
A Lily hid from Satan’s view
     Will soon grow on a hill.

Then in the springtime to her bower,
     An angel comes from God
With message to this fragrant flower;
     All wait a Virgin’s nod.

As Lord’s Handmaid our Lily bows
     And Spirit consummates.
With Father’s Son to her endows;
     She now will share His fate.

From manger to His Calvary
     She mothers God’s own Son.
High on that hill with Him is she;
     He gives her there to John.

On Valley’s lily spills raindrops
    Of red from Sharon’s Rose.
Together these two flowers stop
     That sin our First Eve chose.

Now Second Eve and Adam rise
     Anew on Easter morn.
Our Lily and her Rose surprise
     Us all; we’re flowers born.

Mary Is Christ’s Way

O Mary, at your feet we fall
As you teach us to “Father” call
     Creator God above,
For He who made His Image all
Through you then came to break sin’s wall
     With His Incarnate love.

His Spirit brought our Father’s seed
When you consented to His deed
     And bore His only Son.
At your sweet breast His Son did feed
And learned from you God’s Name to heed;
     He and “I Am” are One.

And then to His disciples taught
That through you His own Father sought
     His sisters, brothers new.
Through your consent salvation wrought;
At Nazareth your will was naught—
     God’s Son learned that from you.

Your human will in Garden seen
As your Son from your deed does glean
     And says, “Not mine but Yours.”
At Cross you on each other lean,
God’s Son and you, our Heaven’s Queen;
     Two human natures pure.

On Easter Resurrection morn
Our human nature is reborn;
     Through you we’re raised on high,
Our Heaven’s Queen for us adorned
In righteousness as sin is shorn
     From all who with Him die.

A last with you to Heaven come
All those who have in Christ become
     Our Father’s children raised.
To us in Christ He says, “Well done;”
Our life in Him has just begun:
     His Trinity be praised!

Judgment’s Mercy

The arrows of your judgment reach their goal
In hearts of those entrapped in Devil’s snare
By choice they’ve made to sin and lose their souls
To him who lures them to his darkened lair.
Like vultures, Satan’s angels circle round
In gathering clouds of darkness rise from hell,
Yet in the gathering storm Christ’s grace abounds,
For judgment comes with truth He means to tell.
Amid the hailstones of this rising storm
We glimpse horizon blue with clearing skies,
And soon a rainbow all the earth adorns
With judgment’s mercy for which we have cried.
Those arrows shot were tipped with healing balm
That cleanses us, and all our fears are calmed.

His Mercy Gate

The gate before us is His mercy gate
Entwined with vine of holiness from Him
Who came among us, shares our human fate
To die on Cross and save us from our sin.

His mercy twined around with two-fold truth
Of Holy Trinity and of ourselves,
Two truths that are together warp and woof
And in our Father’s Son break Satan’s spell.

His mercy, truth, our longing satisfy–
Bring wisdom here unites our hearts and minds–
Yet we continue to be mystified
By love that knows no end for humankind.

In mercy, truth, forever are our home
As Spirit and the Bride say to Him, “Come.”
