The Family We Seek

Where is the family we all seek
     Whose face we long to see,
A vision for whom we all weep:
     Your Holy Trinity?

Is it too much of You to ask
     To show us all Yourself,
Will You no longer wear a mask
     So our souls will know health?

Look up, You say, and see my star
     That guides all wise to me;
I’ve come to you from heaven far
     In Holy Family.

Are Jesus, Mary, Joseph, three
     My likeness on the earth;
In them you can Myself now see
     As families know new birth.

For every family now can live
     As likeness of those three
And to the world will myself give
     In human trinity.

The Dawn Has Risen

Our deluge here has ended now,
     And dawn is breaking through;
Across the heavens is His bow
     For all is fresh and new.

His Ark has brought us safely home,
     And all earth is aboard;
Through us the world heard Him say, “Come;”
     Creation calls Him Lord.

All groans and quakes of earth are gone,
     Creation’s born again.
The dawn for which we all have longed
     Has risen free from sin.

To glory all together go;
     All creatures sing His praise.
Eternal life we all now know–
     With Him creation raised.

 An Undivided Heart

The mystery of an undivided heart
Revealed in Him in Bethlehem is born
And raised eternally on Easter morn–
Makes human nature ever of Him part.

His flesh has always bowed to Him divine—
Obedient is Son to Father’s will—
Says to His human nature, “Peace, be still”–
Pours in old Eden’s death His heaven’s wine.

With life of new creation old transformed
Becomes in Eden new what’s meant to be,
Forever lives because we are sin free;
With undivided heart we are adorned.

His hypostatic union recreates
Our hearts, will now forever with Him wait.

Living Water

The cisterns from which I have drunk
     Will never slake my thirst,
And in my sin I’ve deeper sunk;
     I know my way is cursed.

Your water will forever live
     That from Your fountain flows;
My life to You I freely give
     So I may Your life know.

And when I do, my thirst You slake
     With water that’s alive,
And You begin to me re-make
     As in Your font I dive.

You bring me up to life anew
     And set me on Your way;
Before me I can heaven view
     As with You I now stay.

Truth and Love

Within Your Sacred Heart are truth and love;
Together hand-in-hand they’ll always be.
Inseparably they’re knit by Spirit’s dove,
Seen only by the hearts that You set free.

In truth and love Your mercy always dwells–
Means freedom for our hearts that You will give,
As slavery to the Devil hears death’s knell,
For sin where Your heart is will never live.

Then we are free to give to You ourselves,
Surrender to You all we are and do,
And You give what we need to serve You well,
As what is old becomes forever new.

Our lowly hearts from You will understand
Your truth and love joined in eternal band.

The Spirit’s Gift

Blessed Mary is the Holy Spirit’s gift
Who brings to our minds all that Jesus taught
To lead to Father’s truth that’s meant to lift
Our hearts to ponder wisdom Mary sought.
We welcome her into our hearts with John,
Becomes our Mother who to Jesus leads
To weave together all of us as one
In Holy Church, where’s sown salvation’s seeds.
For all the world of her is to be born
And grow in School of Mary, Second Eve,
And walk together into Easter morn:
With hope and love through Mary’s heart, believe.
Blessed Mary helps us ponder, come to know
Her Son, our Lord, who Spirit comes to show.

Our Source of Light

What is the source of light that all us blinds
With radiant beams from upward lifted arms?
Draws from within the sin creation harmed
And opens to new truth our tangled minds
To see through Spirit’s eyes our past unwind—
From weapons of our pride we are disarmed—
Replaced by love turned toward the light makes warm
Each Image that His Sacred Heart unbinds?

It is the Cross whose beams support His hands,
Bless all with death’s defeat by Father’s Son
Incarnate in our human flesh redeemed,
Casts rainbow’s light across our eastern land
As victory on new Sinai’s Mount is won:
Once more creation’s bathed in glory’s gleam.

His Open Door

I look upon the altar, and I see
A door in monstrance open to us all,
A two-way door for those who bend their knee
To Jesus, speaks to us with Lazarus call.

And when He calls us forth, He bids us come
To let Him enter us and take us in,
And when we do we and the world become
An Eden New with our forgiven sin.

We look around and see the world anew—
The way it’s always been since time began—
And we know now the truth we never knew:
He came and made the world His Promised Land.

The open door of monstrance makes us sing
Of Trinity–live in eternal ring.

The Face of God

At last God shows His face to us
In Jesus who is lifted high
And looks upon our earthly dust
As to our suffering He draws nigh.

Then through His suffering face we see
The truth with Him He always brings
That with Him in His grave we’ll be
And rise with Him in Eden’s spring.

For Eden’s long, dark winter’s past
As light of dawn reveals a gate,
And we know exile here won’t last;
We have been freed from Devil’s hate.

Now perfect love will hate cast out
As hate is crucified and dies
And sin in us within, without,
Can now in His grave with Him lie.

Arising with Him we can go
Through gate to Eden now made new
As we within its truth will know
And we can Jesus’ glory view.

Unfading Beauty

Invade us, Lord, come deep within
And crucify our sinful will;
With sword, Your Cross, come slay our sin,
Then in us with Your Spirit fill.

When will is slain our fear is gone,
And we become a creature new,
For we know now we’re not alone
As we are with Yourself imbued.

Now we can look at world You made
And see what we’ve not seen before:
The beauty deep that never fades
With life comes down through heaven’s door.

But one thing we will never see
In new creation from Your hand:
It’s pride that here can never be
When world is made as Your new land.
