Our Family’s Home

The prophet’s word is like a star
    That guides all wise to Him,
And even if we travel far
     We’ll end in Bethlehem.

For there is His Incarnate Word,
     Of Mary, Spirit born,
With Joseph who protects His Lord
     Who’s born on Christmas morn.

And now He can be born in us
     When our hearts for Him long,
And we surrender, place our trust
     In Him where we belong.

The wisest one now welcomes all,
     To Bethlehem will come–
With Joseph, Mary, to Him calls
     All families to their home.

A Stable Door

A stable door in Bethlehem
     Is gate to Paradise,
Now opened wide to welcome Him
     Who for us pays the price.

He came to recapitulate
     Our life we live on earth;
He’s born on earth to open gate
     To welcome earth’s new birth.

All of us now will follow Three
     Who’re wise and lead us there–
Before His manger bend our knee
     In thanks that He is here.

He’ll live and die and rise again
     With new life for us all;
Deliver us from death and sin
     When we upon Him call.

Through faith He gives us hope and love,
     A taste of what’s to come,
Prepares us to join Him above:
     New persons we’ve become.

Christmas Sacrament

His sacrament for us at Christmas comes
In Him, unites our human, His divine
In Person of our Father’s only Son–
Gives us Himself, transforms our bread and wine.

His Spirit came to Mary in her home
To ask her for her maidenly consent,
And she gave Him her body for His own
As veil ‘tween heaven, earth by Him is rent.

At Bethlehem, of Mary He is born
In stable where He’s held by Virgin Maid,
And poor and wise see in Him Easter morn
That’s now for us on altar by Church laid.

The One who comes at Christmas dies on Cross
And rises on the altar–is not lost.

Our Family New

With earthly flesh our Savior’s born—
His truth has risen from our earth—
By heaven’s grace we’re not forlorn
With Him arises in new birth.

For all the earth bursts forth in song
That morn He’s born in Bethlehem;
Creation has for His dawn longed
Is finally freed from Adam’s sin.

The Devil pouts and screams in vain
As angels come from sky above
To herald Him who for us came–
Brings Trinity’s undying love.

With Mary, Joseph, Holy Three,
Presents His purpose for us all,
That we a family three can be
Redeemed when we will on Him call.

The Holy Name of Jesus

The name of Jesus gives us life
     When we say “not my will”
And leave our dark and enter light
     Our purpose to fulfill.

We speak His name and our foes flee
     And slink away in fear;
Forever we will bend our knee
     To Him in us we bear.

His Mother now becomes our own—
     Her mantle covers us—
As virtues are within us sown,
     By sin no longer trussed.

Both now and for eternity
     Our hearts in us He claims,
And our lives are forever free
     As we speak Jesus’ name.

Eden in a Stable Born

Like Eden You our desert make
When You are in a stable born;
You came to us to our part take
In Eden’s East where we’re forlorn.

Now Eden in us all awakes
With You on that first Christmas day.
Our thirst for righteousness You slake;
In Eden’s East You have Your way.

The animals that share Your stall
With You, they also know our joy
As You save all from Eden’s fall
When You come as a Baby Boy.

Among us You will live and die
And rise with Eden Easter Morn;
Creation saved from Satan’s lie
As we are all with You re-born.

Mary, Mother of God

O Mary, you have heard God’s Word and kept
It in your heart for all your children born
Of faith in Him—no longer are forlorn
Because of Him—a friend of Lazarus wept;
He raised His friend, who from a grave then stepped,
Anticipation of that Easter morn
When, raised from grave, He would all time adorn
With His new life in your blessed womb had slept.

At your sweet breast you suckled God as Son
Whose perfect nature with your human joined
In hypostatic union, still distinct,
To suffer and to die and rise as one
And take what Satan had from Him purloined
As once again our earth to heaven linked.

Bethlehem Within

So long it seems we’ve had to wait
For our hearts to be Bethlehem,
But He’s on time and never late
As Bethlehem He brings within.

He’s born again in each of us
With Mary as our Mother too;
She teaches us to Jesus trust
With new life fresh as morning dew.

With Bethlehem within we’ll grow
To die and rise with Jesus here,
And resurrected life we’ll know
As Bethlehem removes all fear.

Then we’ll discover in the end
That Bethlehem now lives above;
There’s always room within the inn
Where we’ll live in undying love.

Likeness of His Trinity

He steps into our lives at Bethlehem
Through door that’s opened by His Mother’s “yes,”
And with Him brings His Father’s love of Him
To give us what our Father knows is best.

We’ve tried to live by following our will,
Immersed ourselves in darkness and despair,
But now we hear a voice that’s small and still
From manger where He’s watched by Holy Pair.

Those three in circle have for us restored
In family, likeness of His Trinity
That spills out love for families here galore
So we can now become who we’re to be.

His Trinity this family to us brings,
And through us all creation of Him sings.

The Light of Holy Three

What is this light shines from that stable door
     To lift our spirits poor?
     For by its light we see
Within the stable are our Holy Three,
A proto-icon of His Three above:
A mirror image of His perfect love.

Their open door now beckons all to come
     That fam’lies may become
     Again their likeness here,
As He from all our hearts casts out our fear,
And we, a New Creation, on earth born
With Him—the light of world on Christmas morn.
