Ahead Is Life

I see before me all those fields of green
Are interspersed with trees and gardens fair
And mountains, deserts can be clearly seen,
But no place here is found the Devil’s lair.

For I am glimpsing heaven’s paradise
Where earth to heaven by His hand is raised–
Makes Eden new that’s free from every vice
Where angels and His saints all give Him praise.

And I see all those there who’re dear to me,
My mom and dad and all who’ve passed before;
With my sweet wife, together bend our knees
To Triune Love who’s opened wide the door.

So forward now I look with heart made light
For I have glimpsed that what’s ahead is life.

His Transfigured Face

In glory on this day, three see His face,
A portent of what will in future come
For Him and all the members of our race
Who’ll rise with Him and their true selves become.

In suffering He must first each one re-make
And cleanse each image made in purity
But fallen into sin in Adam’s wake–
Made clean when we to Him will bend our knee.

The suffering of each one is joined with His,
And sin is buried deep within His grave;
Then we will see His glory in what is,
For all creation and each one He saves.

His risen glory is for them displayed
In Him who is our Life and Truth and Way.

Chosen Mountain

Where is this chosen mountain where God dwells,
A place where peace and mercy always reign,
Where it will be as though we never fell
And we another chance will have again?

Can mountain of the Lord within us be
Where God comes down and wreathes our hearts in smoke?
Will Spirit’s breath come open eyes to see
The truth that in His Son He to us spoke?

His smoke, a gentle breeze, brings clarity;
His wisdom in our hearts will ever live
And brings to us His heaven’s surety–
Another chance to each He’ll always give.

The beauty His breath brings takes ours away;
His love in our hearts ever will hold sway.

Truth and Love

May we in holy truth from You delight,
For promise from You is a dream come true,
Becoming real as dawn dispels our night
And beauty of Your truth comes into view.

For holy truth is love You have for us
That penetrates our flesh and wakes our hearts
To cast away old Eden with its lusts–
Make Eden new intended from the start.

Your love and truth shine forth from manger low
Where Mary and her Joseph keep their watch
O’er Babe descended to us here below
To rescue us who are the Devil’s catch.

For Devil cannot stand both truth and love
That raises Eden new to heav’n above.

Awakened from the Fall

You came to me to strengthen memory;
My conscience, reason Adam buried deep
When in him I succumbed to reverie
Of Satan’s lie and tried to make them sleep.

Though drowsy they may be, they’re still awake,
When splashed by waters in your holy fount
They kneel at Holy Table and await
Your Body, Blood raised high on cross You mount.

You lift our eyes from serpent’s deadly snare
To world of angels from whence spirits come
On breath breathed in our clay to ‘lumine here
All Eden, make it part of heaven’s home.

Old Eden’s mem’ry, conscience, reason call,
And Jesus hears and wakes them from their fall.

Mary’s Daughters

O Mary, I see present in my time
Your presence in my sisters in the Faith,
Unfocused there but none-the-less a sign—
Your advent brought to us by your Son’s grace—
For they respond but do not understand
Your mother’s heart that grows within their breasts
And think they must compete with every man,
Not knowing you’re the goal of their heart’s quest.
O may they soon discover your pure heart
In them and lead all men to your heart greet,
That all may take your humble handmaid’s part
And in our hearts the heart of Jesus meet.
O Mary, may your daughters—sisters all—
Learn now that all may you their Mother call.
