Cast over me your mantle blue;
It’s your protection now I need.
Those other blankets proved untrue;
From their false hope my heart now bleeds
Then over me a wispy veil
Falls gently on the Spirit’s breeze
And lifts me from my man-made jail
Of evils, vices I had seized.
Within the veil a Mother’s arms
Enfold me in a loving lap;
At last my heart feels no alarm
As I surrender to my nap.
And when I wake I feel released;
Within my heart a spirit free;
The war within has finally ceased,
And I’ve become true human me.
Oh thank you, Mary, for your yes
That welcomed Father’s only Son;
Through you the Spirit has us blessed
To make us children in the One.
Your lilies now are in full bloom
As each of us becomes your child–
Earth’s fields no long cloaked in gloom;
All bask in sunshine of your smile.
