We celebrate today our Mother’s birth,
The Mother of the First
Of human race sin-free
Who gave His sinlessness to one to be
His Mother and our own with brother John:
Adopted now we all are through her Son.
Immaculate she was in womb conceived—
By Spirit’s breath received
Her nature from her Child
Who was in every sinful way reviled,
And yet surrendered to the Father’s will:
His human nature Anna’s womb did fill.
Blessed Mary’s “Yes” was shaped in her Son’s mold—
The first in His sheepfold
To hear His loving voice—
Made free from sin to make her human choice,
Whose name today with joy we celebrate!
For all of us she now in heaven waits.
