O Lord, come dig my Adam’s roots
And throw them in Your fire,
Then from Your roots grow my new shoot
By Spirit’s breath inspired.
In my heart come and dig deep down,
Connect me to Your Vine,
And make me once again Your ground
Now watered by Your wine.
Your wine on altar is transformed,
Becomes Your holy Blood;
To Your life I am then conformed,
Washed clean in crimson flood.
That river in me will converge
With stream from Church’s fount
Where Baptized I had been submerged
Together with my doubts.
Through grace I now believe in You,
With Father, Spirit one;
Your human life from Mary new
Makes me adopted son.
Unique new person in me lives,
Grown from Begotten’s roots,
As through me to the world You give
Yourself, New Eden’s fruit.
